Its a mere flesh wound, just do the other side to match.  Maybe go the same route backwards   :gap:

I almost shed a tear as you were backing down. Some nice vids though, thanks for posting. 1 of these days I need to head up to Moon Rocks and check it out for myself.

Did some more wheelin over the 4th. Ran Bear Valley loop trail outside Truckee. From there we went to Plumas County and camped at a spot I've been going to since I was kid. Nothing hardcore but there were some nasty snow drifts that made things interesting . Had alternator issues on the way home (overcharging). Got hooked up with a new used alternator from cdgvw1 yesterday and installed it last night. Everythings good and ready for the next trip. Enough BS here are some pics.

Been putting in some serious hours on this lately. With the help of a few good friends we built a cage in two weekends. Having the bend tech software made all the bends locations very accurate.

Designed it for lots of headroom.

Also didn't want to block the dash so we put the dash bar above the dash in between the inclinometer and windshield.

Also wanted to be able to remove dash later if need be so we recessed the A-pillar down bars. This also made it have less bends for a stronger A-pillar.

Tied the B-pillar hoop to the cab. To give everything more rigidity and help keep the shape of the cab in a rollover. Also ran tubes from the B-pillar floor plates to the frame.

More cage pics.

Looks good, any more plans or add on's to the cage?

I've got a few minor things I want to add. Stay tuned...

The top is going back on. I will need to do some minor trimming where it meets the cab. As far as the height goes, it'll clear no problem. The only tube I wasn't able to fully weld was the dash bar, however once the windshield is pulled to plate the A-pillar the dash can be fully welded, no problem.

rigs looking real good man

Thanks a lot guys. I'm in the process of bobbing the rear and ditching the 4runner tailgate for a pick up gate. I'll get some progress pics when I'm back in the garage on Sunday.

redrocket93

Bobbed 10 inches out of the bed and used a different rear section that a buddy gave me that was pretty much damage free. Also added ditched the 4runner tailgate for a pick up gate. Made a floor patch panel/gate hinge surface by building a frame out of 1" square tubing and skinning it with sheet metal. I'll get some better pics once it's finished and painted. Also gonna build a wrap around rear tube bumper this weekend.

sweet man  looks really good guna cut the top to fit?

Yep, the top will get bobbed as well. Never worked with fiberglass before, should be interesting.

Peterbuilt84

Nice, I like the side protection on the bumper. Cage came out good too :smokin:

Do you have any more pics of the underside, where the hitch mounts?

redrocket93

Thanks for the compliments. I'll get some pics of the underside tomorrow. Basically the hitch is recessed into the 2x3x.188 wall rectangle tube I have for a frame crossmember in the rear. It's also frenched into the DOM bumper tube.

Peterbuilt84

Interesting, definitely interested in a pic if you get a chance  :beerchug:
