Thanks a lot guys. This will be the last update on this build for a few months. I'm rolling a buddies FJ40 project into the garage on Friday. Will probably start a build thread for that too.

That bobbed hard top looks awesome, well done.

Good times at MCR10, never had the chance to say adios as we rolled out at 5am but had a blast.

Here's a pic from the top of Cadilac.

Cheers.

Thanks.

Good times indeed. Can't wait for next year.

Nice pic. Got any others?

Unfortunately I didn't get too many pics cause I was too busy driving.  I have a couple more on the trail and some around camp, mostly me and Joe though.  PM me your email address and I'll send the good ones your way if you'd like...

Not exactly hardcore fab but, with the addition of the pick-up tailgate I had to come up with some sort of back window. Threw this together out of gorrilla tape, camo tarp and clear vinyl. Actually came out pretty good. Used button snaps and a a piece of flat stock to fasten it. Keeps 99% of the water out.

Went to Fordyce last weekend and got snowed on the entire time. We went about 5 miles in and things were getting really sketch (all of us had to pull cable a to keep from sliding off a cliff at the nasty off camber spot) so we turned around, went back to the staging area and camped there.

Back window pics.

Also integrated some velcro straps to keep it rolled up when I'm loading and unloading, they work great.

A few pics from the trip.

Thanks a lot. It looks better in the pics than it does in person, haha.

Thought I saw you coming down the hill that Sunday!  The P.O.'ed P-cake was in front of you a bit and your 'Runner was up on a trailer, figured you were coming back from Fordyce.  Right on.  Sounds like a blast, great pics.  Just had my truck in for smog last Wednesday, passed with flying colors!  Nice.

Sweet! I saw you had yours up for sale. What's up? Don't do it, you'll regret it. Unless your selling it to get a different crawler.

Not much is new with the 4runner. Thought you guys might be interested in the FJ40 I'm building for a buddy of mine. It's getting a TBI 350, SM420 to LC t-case, spring over, anti wrap bar, shackle reverse, ARB's, 37's frame off restoration, POR 15 the entire frame, new paint and rust repair, tube fenders, bumpers, sliders and roll cage. I'm doing everthing but the body work (the tub is at a body shop as we speak) When it's done I should have a pretty decent chunk of change to drop on the 4runner and a new car trailer. Hopefully by the beginning of summer.

For Sale!  A half hearted attempt at best.  We'll see what happens, not much action so most likely I'll have no regrets after all.  That FJ40 looks awesome.  Tough year for snow wheeling, eh!  Ha ha.  Happy New Year dude.

Took some time off the FJ40 while waiting for the body to be painted. Picked up a York compressor at picknpull on half price day for $20. Had my buddy cut me out some plates on his torchmate. Got everything installed, wired, plumbed and working yesterday. Fills a 37" from 8-30 psi in a minute flat, couldn't be happier. I plan on adding a tank later but it'll be fine for now. Also got a 105 amp GM alernator and swapped it in using a TG mount. Wired it so it uses the factory volt gauge and charge light.

Pressure switch/control relay box. Gonna do something different for the mounting. Not digging the hose clamps.

And picked up some 35" blue label krawlers for a song from a buddy. These are gonna be my drive to the trail tires. Save the iroks for when I trailer. Thinking about selling the 37" iroks for some 39.5's.

Thanks a lot. There should be plenty of white stuff up there now. Although my son is due on Feb 20th so I'm not leaving cell service until after he's born. Even then I probably won't be traveling far from home for a little while.

How big was the spacer for the York bracket (between the plates)?

1.25". I used a piece of 3" x .188 wall square tubing and burned it home hot. Make sure it gets welded good. I was reading on Pirate that some have had issues with the spacer cracking due to not enough penetration and or to thin of material used for the spacer. It's not easy to get a decent weld because the weld surface is recessed so far between the plates.

Congrats!  A future co-pilot, very cool.  :)

Just doing a little light lunch break reading, I should be checking back in here more often.  Anyhow, I have some old york stuff, mainly an air tank on my 'Runner, come over and get it if you want it and you're still looking.  I have the power tank so I'm good.  I'll pm or email you my cell number.

Got hooked up with a freebie compressor tank from MAD here on the board. It's a 3 gallon tank that is the perfect size to fit between the frame rails under the cargo area. Installed it today and could'nt be happier with the results. Tried it out powering my impact gun and it worked great. Thanks again Mike for the tank. Also got a little bored and made a shift knob out of a broken axle shaft.

Looks good. I havnt made any progress on mine yet. my heater hoses sprung a leak tonight so I am going to have to dig back into the dash and figure out what went wrong.

Thanks. You're gonna love the York setup. That sucks about the leak. Good luck with getting it fixed. If it makes you feel any better I hit the radiator drain plug with the York when I was putting it together and it broke clean off in the radiator. Had to easy out the plug and made huge mess of coolant all over me and the garage floor.

MAD

Nice!  Glad it worked out.  Looks good, too.  I fixed my rear window today!  Thanks for the pointers.
