Saw it when I got my Chevy springs... it's a clunker truck so you can't get the engine if you wanted to. I thought about pulling everything else and finding a short block from somewhere but that probably won't happen.

So you're still coming down tomorrow, right? In the cold windy goodness outside? And of course the weather is supposed to be awesome Friday and Saturday.

Awesome sauce; I know a gal up that way who has a 1st gen with engine problems (maybe head gasket?) that may end up selling it for about $1000 or so; I'm talking to her about it now so we'll see what happens.

ok tomorrow the rear leafs from the truck are being sold thank god... im going to the pick n pull to get f150 springs and 2 sets of stock rear leaf springs for my front...

plan is to do the rears first I am going to make my own hanger for the front out of 3" tubing .25 wall since the f150's are 2.5 wide. I will be doing a write up on the f150 since it was hard to find a SOLID write up just a bunch of little points to be made. It seems as though you move the front hanger about 11 - 11.5" forward and you can retain your wheelbase and your orginal shackle mount... we will see. The Fords come from a 2wd f150 and are 58" long.... i believe that they are from late 80s early 90's so thats what im looking for tomorrow..

fronts i am going to make a leaf pack out of 2 sets of rears... i'm thinking 5 or 6 leafs and alot of cutting...

got a lot done today even though i spent most the day in boulder god it was a great day.......

built a work bench in my small garage and moved stuff around so i can work in there pretty easy...

got rear springs out to sell tomorrow...

also check out the arch on the rears these were mounted in stock hangers with stock shackle position

tomorrow im going to the junk yard and find me some ford f150 springs... wish me luck

PS YES DAN YOUR CUSTOM EXHAUST IS STILL PIMPING

while doing this i plan on doing the /\ shocks i have some DOM and bolts i figure while its all apart why not.... also plan on doing rear bump stops too...then onto the front

A few things:

Love your jack-tire-stands  :gap:

Yes, that is an awesome custom exhaust tip... sorry it's not chromed.

Is your d-shaft still hooked to the diff?

From what I've read the Furd springs are softer and tend to go flat faster than Chevies. Consider how much weght is in the ass-end of that Runner... y'know, all my tools, cooler etc.  :hahaha: If you get Chevy springs you can save yourself a lot of trouble by yanking 2 passenger side springs instead of fighting with the fuel tank on the driver's side. I got lucky and found a 2wd truck with the bed and fuel tank already gone; easy-peasy. The Pirate FAQ says 2wd are the springs to get; 3 leaves and an overload while the 4wd have 4 springs and an overload. Either way you can mix-n-match them to your little heart's delight. I picked up a new spool of wire yesterday BTW; thankfully Home Depot has welding wire since AirGas is closed on weekends.

well after a sad day i gave up lol... i had some 2wd f150 springs as good as pulled when i looked and found out that one of the springs(main top leaf) had a crack in it FKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

then it started snowing pretty hard and i said FK it...

im gonna hit aurora upayupull and see if i can find another f150 2wd...

i really want to do the f150s so i dont have to move my rear hanger back.... ive been toying around bobbing the truck this summer and repainting it since its all FK'd anyways..

i think if i dont have any luck tomorrow i might splurge and get the TG 3" rear springs and see how they do...

Before you spend more time and $ at a yard, you want to try my old Pro Comp springs? They were pretty flexy... and they're 48" long (I think) so moving hangers isn't needed.

hmmmm maybe... thats an option... i mean its 2 bucks to get in the junk yard... thing is i would have to drive down tehre and get them :P

do you have any pictures with them on  view from the side... its hard to gauge because you have no bed...

i was just outside doing some measuring and i think what might be the best thing to do is run the main leaf from a Rear pack(48") then make a custom pack out of my alcans and make sure it sits low... i wanna have it as low as possible and just cut my fenders out...

Sick tire jack stands man!!! Do wat ya gotta do... HA HA Explorer in the rear dude, works great but ya might have to move hanger forward! They are 57" long dude. I moved mine forward but i also bobbed my truck and shortn the frame in the rear. I built my own hangers to cause they are wider than toyota. Not sure how the runner would sit if it was bolted up in the stock locations.  :twocents: Tear it up bro

I think i might of. I cant remember, been awhile!! I don't think it was much! Ya they are pretty heavy, have my box on and a spare tire and tool box and a spare DL back there and they dont sag much at all. Flex pretty good to, i've been happy with them. Pumkintoy had the same set up on his orange 84 truggy too!

well today i got a lot done... pulled 3 sets of leaf springs from the pick in pull 2 sets of rear toyota springs and some exploder springs..

picked up my new welder lin 140... and a HF autodarking helm for 40 bones...

anyways i got my springs in the rear all mounted up and while doing it i decided to stretch my rear about 1-2" something along those lines...

had everything tacked on and put the wheels and tires on only to find i was 3/8" off on my drivers side and let me tell you it makes a difference being that little off hahaha... anyways i cut off the perch and re tacked it on straight as an arrow now... i made my own front hangers out of 3x3 .120 wall tubing and had to slice a bit off the spring metal insert inside the bushings on all sides.. (they were about 1/8 to wide for my perches) anyways good as new.... tomorrow i will finish welding up the hangers and see what i have...

one thing i can tell u is i got it much lower... which makes me extremely happy but now i am going to have to trim the rear fenders much like volcom did aka cut a lot out hahaha..my shackle angle was about 60 or 65 somewhere in there which was perfect... tomorrow i will get all my measurements and share them with everyone...

also F150 2wd trucks offer free or cheap ubolt flips they are exactly the same size...

also anyone know where to get cheap stock rear leaf bushings???

ill post some pics later
