my new motor mounts came today... but i have an interview at 1130 in englewood so ill have to mess with them when i get back... my ebay auction for the truck ends in 3 days if i have no bidders im 100% keeping it if i sell it im looking for an extra cab or single came 84-88

ya it sucks the truck is pretty BA now though...

i got my motor mounts in today it rides so much better but i think my TC mounts are a bit fucked too..... i might end up selling my current budbuilt xmember and getting a FROR one with the skid... that is if i keep it LOL

yes but just need a skid plate and the middle piece ... i dont want full kit i have DOM tubing to make the mounts with

I have the frontrange crossmember and it vibrates so bad I hate it.  It does not allow the drivetrain to move at all.  I think I can feel each cylinder firing   I would recommend building one from scratch using factory mounts.  hope this helps......

good info i was to get one i wouldn't get the kit just the center plate... and also im looking into 4xinnovations TC mounts alot of great reviews on them. Today i am going to check out and see if one is broken. I wouldn't dout that it is since both motor mounts were loose and one was broke...

well after further review today... my transfer cases are hitting the body... since i took my body lift off.. so next week it looks like i gotta cut out the tranny tunnel

well i was tired of the vibes and decided today was the day im gonna cut my tranny tunnel out... i used caulking rivets and sheetmetal screws to make a new one since i dont have a welder...

and my truck does fit in my little tiny garage im so happy!!!




took it for a test drive zero vibes... im happy with it might not be pretty but it will work... i caulked around all the edges before i used screws to set it in place should be pretty good...

thursday i am going down to dans(wakkjobs) and welding on my sliders... and making a rear shock mount... so we will see how that goes...

on a side note i think my starter is donezo so im gonna order a new one here tonight i think

Yeah, that tunnel needs some serious lovin'... I'm almost done with my frame so the welder should be free by Thursday. I won't stay up too late Wednesday night either even though it's karaoke at the bar. Remember to bring the shocks and Chevy spring mounts too or else you're wheeling solo again this weekend!

found out why my start is going bad




this is kinda a weird plate... im not sure why its so thin and cheap .. it is covering the fly wheel

i guess we all learn something new every once in awhile... apparently GM motors require shimming in their starters... which sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i got my new started attempted to mess with the shims and destoryed the gears on the new starter go think i have AA lifetime warranty on this pos.

anyways i also shered a bolt off in the block yea for me!!!! but i think its gonna be an easy fix considering the bot is coming out the other end...

i came across this for setting up a GM block starter with shims

pretty interesting i think my starter needs to be closer to the fly wheel when i ran it with zero shims it started but sounded bad... when i put the 6 shims that was originally in it it blew up lol

the interesting thing is if you shim just the outter side it will get it closer to fly wheel i am going to attempt this tomorrow

It still baffles me as to HOW THE F you broke that bolt... 

If the bolt piece came out easily the threads in the block should be fine. If not I'll send my tap&die set up Thursday with Suz. Just remember: You break it, you pay for it!

I have never had to shim any GM starters; it may be because you have that Toyota tranny behind the GM engine though...
