pinion flange questions
« on: Dec 16, 2009, 04:57:32 PM »
Ok I have 2 e-lockers.  I will be putting V6 yukons in them here in a week or so.  I know the e-lockers come from the factory with 30 spline pinion flanges.  The aftermarket V6 gears are of course 27 spline.  My question is are the 4 cyl 27 spline pinion flange compatible with the V6 27 spline pinion?  If so that's awesome...

I might be slightly retarded...  According to Marlin's store this is what a 27 spline will fit:

1963-8/69 FJ40, 1979-83 Hilux, 64mm x 56mm x 8mm
1984+ Pickup, 60mm x 60mm x 10mm (non-CV)
1986-87 Turbo, 1988+ V6, FJ60, 66mm x 66mm x 11mm

now does it not list 79-83 because of the funky drivehsaft pattern or because they're different spline?  I have some 3.90s out of my 81 that I am wanting to use my flanges off of if that helps.  I'm going to go lick some windows  :stopit:

i have a elocker in my 79,  the original flange fit on my 4.37 pinion if i'm not mistaken.   so  to answer your question  order the gears and the flanges at the same time,  i dont think there was a difference

sorry that didn't make sense to me.  I already ordered V6 gears I was wondering if the flanges off of my 4 cyl 3.90s will work with my new V6 gears.  So I don't have to order new flanges  :dunno:

For anyone wondering I tried the e-locker pinion flange out of curiosity, mainly because I don't believe anything I read, and guess what it fit!

Excellent!  Oh, and that's a pretty good mindset, if you read it on the internet, you can almost be sure it aint true  :haha:  The anonymity of the internet allows plenty of idiots to seamlessly transfer to the role of internet genius!
