you cant drive past a window with out looking at your rigs reflection.

When you can't help but look back at your truck on your way into the house or office.

But all cars have their issues, take a look at our lovely toyotas, the 3.0 put them in the books for having issues to, had toyota never made a 3.0 or thought the design out a little more they would have never had gotten any bad wrap.

Not all Toyota 3.0 liters are a bad motor. Toyota has made a few different ones.

When a big motor is a 3.4 and its more then enough.

When the motor bouncing off of the rev limiter is normal and its not a worry.

Dingman.

My 3.0L lasted 258,000 miles with never having any work done to it besides maintenance.

I now have that bigger motor (3.4L) and it bounces off rev limited occasionally.. :haha:

...when you have to get copies of your keys made ever few months because the design of the cut is so bad the keys tend to break a bunch.

And then they look at you funny. That's about the same time that you come to the conclusion that the newest stock part on your truck is older then the design of their car.

When you buy a "parts" truck with rotting tires and grass growing under and on it from a barnyard for $250, change the fluids, bleed the clutch and proceed to drive it at high speeds for long distances for the next 2 months getting 21 mpg...

Finally it happens:  you are forced to pull it back into the garage...

to weld up the rear end.

Plekto

1 - When every discussion about your rigs ends up turning into how little it cost. (makes the Jeep owners mad when this happens)
2 - When your transmission and gears makes more noise than your engine or exhaust.(note - also applies to old Scouts)
3 - When people ask you how many miles it has and you say "almost 400K" without thinking it's anything out of the ordinary.
3B - When you don't ask how many miles it has on it when you call about the ad in the paper.  But do ask what gears it has.
4 - When you own the oldest, most beat-up vehicle in the lot at work and nobody gives you grief over it.(true story - everyone else had new BMWs and Mercedes and so on - and this one old 4Runner in the middle of them...)

Note - I think the real reason Toyota do better off-road is that we know the trucks(actually applies to almost all makes) are cheap crap in stock form and so we modify them *before* we go wheeling.  The other people actually believe the marketing that their stock rig is capable of hitting the trails as-is.

When you go to buy parts, and your no sure where your going, you just ride around and look for the yard with a bunch of yotas parked out front.
If you see it, its for sale.

When your A/C stops working, instead of fixing it, you turn it into onboard air and just take off your top and throw on half doors during the summer.

haha or for me... You blow out the rear windows and instead of replacing all of them, you hack the back off to make into a 4door truck and take the doors off in the summer.

When you save you're old 4 runner that you don't drive every day for your daughter who won't have her license for another 4 years, just so she'll have a "decent vehicle to drive"

When every vehicle you own, including your trailer is Toyota
* 85 4Runner
* 96 4Runner
* 99 Lancruiser
* 05 Tacoma
* 78 truck bed trailer
* Regardless of what happens, someone will find a way to take it too seriously.

I now own another toyota.... well kinda, just purchase an 89 2wd regular cab with a junk title here in california... OH did I mention its JUST a CAB.   ALTHOUGH its a complete cab w/22re harness and a complete oil burning piston slapping longblock.
so all I need is a windshield...

then I will throw it on the LC 81 fj60 chassis I was given a few months ago

you should try it in a four door vw rabbit diesel pushing a whopping 50hp..... thats a life threatening experience.... It was worse when I was trying to get on the freeway with my 13.5 ft aluminum boat and trailer behind me ( there should be laws against that... hell, probably is.. lol)
