no they are not the same. v6 calipers are much larger and hold more fluid.  the v6 calipers will bolt right onto your knuckles in place of the four cyl calipers

yeah that may help but it sounds like you could have a proportioning valve problem if your rears are locking up.  also if you get v6 calipers you will want to run vented rotors off of an fj60 with them.

Depends what year your truck is. After 90 they all came with the same calipers.

What kind of calipers are they on the rear? If they are bigger then the front capilers you will have that problem.

Go to this thread on PBB and it will explain it better. Go to page 6 and down to post #136 and read from there.

Should be, since the big difference is carb (fj60) and efi (fj62).

Don't you turn the valve in to lessen the braking pressure to the rear?

You guys got me considering a caliper upgrade for my 1988 pickup now. Mines stock with 22RE.

I know the V6 calipers are supposed to bolt right on. Are there any clearance issues with 15 inch wheels? I have 31/10.50/15's on cheapy chrome modular steel wheels.

How about the master cyl and booster? My son's 91 4 cyl pickup has stock brakes and stops WAY better than mine. His truck has a dual can booster. His truck can put you through the windshield with little pedal effort. Mine feels like non power brakes compared to his.

Would I be able to bolt that type booster/master cyl on in combination with the V6 calipers for major braking improvements?

There is a lot of misinformation out there. Is it true that 93 up 4Runner brakes would be the parts to get?

i got v6 calipers on my pickup and only issue i had was the dust shild had to be trimed so they could bolt up,as far as the wheels i got a 1"1/2  wheel spacer and i have no issues for clearence .ive got a stock booster and a chevy master cylinder  it does stop good with 35s just my rear lock up before my front, the only thing i dont like, but i do have rear disc. i could teel a big difference in stock 4cylinder calipers and v-6 calipers

you will probly have clearance issues without wheel spacers but yes the v6 calipers will bolt right on.  I used a v6 4x4 t-100 brake booster on my 84 pickup. it bolted right in and made HUGE braking improvement, along with the v6 calipers and 1" bore MC

Nope, rotors are different.

It varies wheel to wheel, offset and design being the factors I believe.  Aside from matching the rear width, it's another reason some run wheel spacers.

Thanks for the info. I'll be swapping on the V6 calipers when I need my brakes done. Maybe the dual chamber booster too if I can get my hands on one. Hopefully, I won't need spacers.
