Also question. He has a 22r why is every one saying headers? Am I missing something here? I thought the motor is only a 4cly and has 1 header/manifold?
Throttle body
I have a stock 22R with a 32/36 Weber
That's about as well, really. The thing is that most mods add 2-3% more power, which can be noticeable in a big engine, but with ~120HP to begin with, jumping to, say 125HP(joy!) won't be a blip in actual use. So most people just do exhaust and a header and call it a day. Anything more and you should just drop a 3RZ in the thing and get some REAL power.
Well now, thats your first problem, you need a throttle body and everything will be better.
Coyotefrg, you said you got 180 hp out of your 22r. What mods did you do? Did you go with the 20R head/ manifold?
I was running a 22r and the best mods that I used that were fairly cheap was the weber carb, headers to full exhaust( let er' breath) and D.U.I distributor got em all at LC Engineering.
Trying to get horsepower out of a 22r is retarded. It is a long stroke tractor engine designed to have a nice thick torque curve. Webber, crawler/mid range cam and a long tube header with free flowing exhaust will get you a nicer performing engine. If you want more than that sure you can spend a recockulous amount of cash and still be under 200 hp or do an engine swap.
I was really just asking about affordable mods for the 22R that one would realistically add to make the most of whats under the hood without breaking the bank.
