I just got a call from Diane, and her doggie Ginger died,  she was very old and had wondered off, possibly knowing it was her time but got hit by a car on her way to wherever it is that dogs go :(

Ive started this thread to honor our pets that have past since I myself have lost several in the last few years.

Sorry for the misunderstanding: Chancey was the dog, Alena was the hamster.

I don't have any pics handy but I had my Akita Asia for 9 years.  Came home from work one day and she was gone.  Never saw her again.    I sill look occasionally at petfinder 4 years later hoping to see her there somewhere even though the chances of an Akita living 13 years are slim and none.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

BLACKDOG

Don't have any pics of my two old dogs, keesha, a keeshond/lab mix, and boss, a boston terrier.  You can see the originality of the family  :hahaha:

My parents got boss the first year they were married (1981) and he lived until the winted of 1993-94.  He was a great dog, very protective, and very playful with the family.  He loved chewing on 2 liter soda bottles, esp. when they used to have those caps on the bottom.  He'd rip those off and chew on them for hours.  He died of old age and injuries received by getting hit by a car.  He was 14.

We got Keesha when I was 12 or so, and she moved from OK to CA with us.  She was a good dog, great company.  She died of stomach cancer, was fine one day, in bad shape the next, my dad took her to the vet, and after xrays and so forth, the vet told him he'd better call my mom if she wanted to say goodbye.  That was hard, I was in Reno in the Fire Academy, and my sister was away at school.  Keesha was 12 whe she died.

Sorry for your loss guys, it always hurts to lose a beloved friend.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

:rivers: sorry for your loss, both of you.

I tend to like dogs more than people, so it always breaks my heart to hear of one passing away.

Some of my favorite dog quotes:

"The more people I meet the more I like my dog." - Unknown

"They [dogs] never talk about themselves but listen to you while you talk about yourself, and keep up an appearance of being interested in the conversation." - Jerome K. Jerome

"I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts." - John Steinbeck

"The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's." - Mark Twain, Letter to W D Howells, 4/2/1899

"Dogs don't live as long as people, because they've already figured out the secret to unconditional love" -unknown
