Rocks For Brains got one of those virus' that act as malware protection but actually is ransomeware. I've been warning him and warning him about going to these sites that will download things into his computer like limeware but he wouldn't listen to me. I almost didn't want to try and fix it for him since it can be very frustrating to weave your way through the traps but fortunately I have my computer and used it to help fix his. Right now his is going through the process of cleaning itself and hopefully when done Police Pro will be gone. What it did was to basically lock him out of all the programs in his computer except for one "Police Pro". It was a viscous circle it kept putting you through and if you tried to open anything it would just give error messages.

On my computer I found sites dedicated to fixing the issue but it did require that I go online with his computer and since the virus wouldn't allow that I was stuck. Now not one to give up I was able to get into "My Computer" with is the doorway to "My Programs" and the actual programs. So I was able to get online that way, I opened ie explorer and clicked on the link that way. It did still give the error message but after I clicked that closed it opened the internet for me. From there I was able to go to the site that had the fixes to rid us of the virus.

First they had a download that would allow me to get into the Task Manager then instructed me to delete a couple processes that were causing the system to keep me from downloading  the second download which fixed the problem. Next was to download and run an Anti-Malware program to hunt down and destroy the beast. It took a couple tries and a total crash but I finally got it done and currently is scanning his computer. Hopefully he has learned a lesson here about these sites that open doors to his computer when he is downloading stuff from them like limeware.

If you get this virus/ransomeware here is the link to fix it:

I got one like that.  It was like an anti virus 360 or at least I thought it was.

This one falls in line with Windows Anti-virus Pro, holds your computer for the ransom and until you pay them it kills using your computer.

That's why you buy a Mac and you won't have to worry about viruses.

Its the truth though. Us Mac users don't have to worry about that crap.

Initial investmen is more money. But overall maintenance is almost non-existent. More mod money for my truck :)

I repair PC's for a living and I've seen the "Windows Police" variant of an old virus several times over the last couple of weeks.  Not hard to remove once you edit the registry so you can run .exe files.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
