Ya I'll build a new cage. Now that I've had practice this next one will be sicky :) I'm 99% sure I'll have the cab ready for lift off tonight. But I won't have the man power till tomorrow. Unless I get a wild hair up my ass and figure out a way to do it with three people. :beerchug:

Thanks man, but the wild hair gave me a tickle and my girlfriend, early and me got the cab off with a hoiste. tomorrow ima start measuring to figure out where the gas tanks gonna go. Cut the hoop outta the horsecaller. to make it flatter. instead of moving the whole crossmember. build a new rear shock hoop. And a few other things. Shouldnt be too long before its back on the road. I need a new straighter bed if anyone haas one for a 3rd gen layin around. :beerchug:

Hey love the fact your keepin the 3.0. Maybe right now while you have it all down ditch that cross over pipe? It should not be that much work and you seem inclinded as your doing the cab swap. Looks great you move pretty damn fast. Less then a week later and you already got the cab off. I'd still be pulling the bed.

Yea there's lots of stuff I would like to do. Like ditch the crossover pipe, lift the drivetrains/flat belly. But I just wanna get a few little things cleaned up redo front and rear shocks. And get this thang back on the road. And ready for snow. I could do :pokinit: forever but if I go to deep I might not be able to wheel this winter and I really just wanna go wheelin again :driving:

It's those turtle point trolls, they've been getting me to, they must be putting in extra hours cause i've been hitting you up every time i check in on project extenze.

swapped89

Right on guys. Hater are just like lovers cause they spend just as much time thinkin about takin yer points as your girlfriend spends thinkin bout you, lol.

Anywho I came to the conclusion that I am going to extend the rear frame 3-6" so that I won't have to tub the cab for fenderwells and also give it a lil longer bed.
2nd conclusion is that I'm going tube the rear of the truck/bed. And skin the tube with some chopped up bedsides, that I can remove before the trail. Also gnna ditchthe stock tailights and come up with my own home brew. So my ride'l be down for a lil while longer than I hoped. But hopefully I'll get it done before my birthday on November 2nd. :beerchug:

First for the cage Im gonna bend up the B pillar hoop. This time completely behind the cab then triangulate it from the frame to the top corners of the hoop one big X. Then build the bed off the back of that. the cab cage will be very much like the one i all ready built only full exo. Cause Im gonna have this whole truck sprayed by my painter buddy. And I wanna keep it lookin :boobs: if/when I flop it. And this cage wont be as tight to the cab. gonna give it like .5-1" of wiggle room.

What are you gonna do with that old cab?

You should do something like this except covering the front fenders and not have the bedsides cut off like that. Maybe make the rear cage section similar to this and then have bed supports that disconnect from the rear cage so you don't have to have the bedcage so far back. I'm just trying to give you some ideas, i'm not sure if this is what you were talking about or not.

swapped89

Sweet man thanks for the pic! That is alot like what I'm goin for. After I stretch the rear my rear tires will be about the same as that truck maybe slightly farther back. Early came over today and did some work with a sawzall cutting all the rear crossmembers and shock hoop out. And we removed the gas tank. I had six ribs outta place that the chiro just fixed yesterday so early did most of the work :) tomorrow I'm gonna pick up some steel to lengthin the rear of the frame. After the frame is lengthened and old brackets cleaned and some shock mounts re-arranged were gonna set the new cab on the frame.
and the bed won't be cut like that, there will be more of the bedside left.

Good deal man, thats gonna be  8). I like your idea of having the removable bed sides so it will look like a truck still on the road but have a tubed back for the trail. Are you gonna just pull the bedsides of and leave them at home when your going wheelin or what?

swapped89

I dunno maybe just put them in the bed or throw them in someones dodge at the trail head. Someone always has a trailer rig.
