rear brake thing 3rd gen.
« on: Aug 09, 2009, 10:35:13 PM »
ok. working on a 89 pickup.    lifted 6 inches .    and i don't know how to adjust the rear brake thing that goes from the frame to the axle.       it's like a valve or somthing.         i think it is for when you hit the brakes it won't let you skid out.    when the frame lifts up.      is it ever been by passed and not used or do i have to keep it.        :headscratch:           let me know thanx.
i love oregon wheelin.

Load Sensing Pressure Valve, supposedly senses wheight in the bed and changes braking power. most people cut the part going to the axle and tie it up.
Bobbed 84 xtra cab, pickin up parts as I go.

If at first you do not succeed, put it in 4low and try again.

so cutting it would make the rear brakes totally not work.  or  would it make them just skid allot easier.

ok if your take that little clip thing off the rubber boot and pull on it it will come off i took them off both my toyota's and can lock the rear brake up doesnt leak or anything so its fine to take it off. I see it pointless being there unless your towing a trailer or somehting which is semi unheard of on a toyota

I cut mine about 2" from where it comes out of the valve on the upper frame side and zip tied the the 2" extension parallel to the cross member above it, and never once had any braking issues and my 4runner doubled as a daily driver as well as a wheeler... So cut away!

I just removed my rear valve today and I havent noticed any diff from when it was on.  Although I did have it pinned up.  I removed it since it was leaking.
