ground wire,  it goes under a bolt on the power steering, over to a plug on the regulator harness

i'll try and look and see what plug  on my truck

Awesome Glen!  You are the man.  I'll go take a quick look and see what I can find before I have to pick the little guy up from school.  I'll be back and about 45 Min.

A smaller problem but very annoying...

Oil is leaking from the bottom of the fuel pump like crazy!  I can watch it drip!  I pulled it back off and used black rtv on both sides of the spacer and gasket and it's STILL leaking!  What am I doing wrong?

Yeah it was broken, i put it back together with rtv in the crack until the new one comes tomorrow.  Any info yet for the wire Glen?  I'm realy nervous driving without that!  Plus I still cant get the truck into gear while it's parked and the engine is running.  I have to put it in gear and THEN start it.

83MT

Looks a bit like this, no?

Shifting issue sounds like either master or slave cylinder going out, not adjusted right, or fluid has air in it.

if that wire does plug into the regulator harness, and its not hooked up,   thats probly why your battery is dying.  your regulator must not be working right.

yeah my post sounded stupid but sometimes people dont make the connection in their head.  I was just simply stating that so TJNate can test to see if his charging system is working properly again when he gets the wire hooked up.  you would be surprised how many guys i talk to that have yotas and dont even realize they have a regulator or what its for.

UPDATE:

OK so I found a connector over near the regulator that was only using 3 of 4 openings and upon closer inspection the "empty" slot looked way to clean where the wire could be.  Long story short i pulled out the rubber seal slid the blade end of the wire in there and it plugs right in.  I went ahead and put the eye end of the wire on a bolt that hols the PS bracket on as Glen had suggested and it all seems to work fine!

Glen i pulled that damn fuel pump off and sure enough that damn spacer was cracked right on the bottom!  It was brand new to!  Damn Autozone!  I ordered a new one but after cleaning it all up and putting black RTV in the crack it is no longer leaking.  I'll keep an eye on it and replace as needed.

As for the transmission I was able to put about 10 miles on the truck and now it goes into gear just fine at a stop with the clutch in!  It take alto of effort between gears but my last one took a while to break in if i remember right (that was almost 10 years ago!).  Anyway another fine product from Marlin and the gang.

adjust the clutch, if you have an adjuster on the slave just make it longer,  if not adjust the pedal

The sun is not even up yet but I had to get a picture for you guys!

And from the front

I took the rear mudflaps off because the were pretty close to the tire.  After I drive it a few days I am going to try and put them back on and see if there is enough room to run them.  Thanks for looking!

man i want your truck! lol i'm so jealous. especially now that i'm out of a truck. i couldn't help but notice your exhaust. On my 84 i had stock exhaust manifold to straight pipe to a thrush glasspack with an echo tip right off the end and i loved the sound of it. it did get a bit ricey in the upper RPMs though. can't wait to see some action pics!
lets not and say we did.

That Thrush thing was  $19 way to not annoy my neighbors :D  With the next paycheck I'll be looking for an exhaust shop than can set me up with a nice stock exhaust replacement.  I want the truck quiet and comfortable and the thrush is neither LOL.

Problem:  Truck runs good down low and idles great, more than half throttle and it cuts out for a second and then when it catches its all broken up.

Engine, brand new ATK longblock 22r

Carb, brand new Weber 32/36 on Offenhauser (SP?) intake with NO smog

Cam, stock as it came in the long block

Exhaust, LCE Header with 4' of pipe to a crappy Thrush muffler (until I get it into the exhaust shop, I want the truck QUIET)

Timing is set at 5 Degree's at idle and if I hit the throttle while watching with the timing light it shoots up to around 12 degree's so I know the advance is working.

Brand new NGK plugs and 8.5mm wires.

K&N Air filter

I was under the impression the carb would be pre set up for a stock 22r and I'm at sea level here in NC so I doubt elevation is a factor.  Anyone help me out here?  I know this little motor should run real good and I don't want to drive it around at 1/3 throttle all the time!  PLEASE HELP!!

Nate

****EDIT**** I just remembered I have not run a 12 volt source to the electric choke, I will do that in the morning as well.
