WOW
lol nice

post on some tacoma forums and cl
someone might have a taco with front frame damage,
that would be perfect to step puzzle in

ya im definitely going to, nice thing to is i dont have to deal with taking it appart.. i already sold the rear axle but besides that i basically have everything needed to even convert to 4wd.

got the new oil pan in, finished re-drilling/taping and replacing the exhaust studs i broke on the down pipe. took the motor mounts off.. im going to use part of the existing motor mounts with my new design. should be easy. i dont want to do motor mounts from scratch because the way they bolt on the 3.4 block is really funky, no easy way to go about it. so far my year/model of tacoma has way more room than i expected. between having a 1" body lift, 01-04 style hood, and just all the other room the truck seems to have i was able to raise my motor about 3 inches from stock. should help out a lot when it comes time to link it.

-Matt-

got the new frame made and in. still need to fish plate it though. i made the frame as high as it was worth it to give me axle/link clearance, the only thing that could potentially be slightly in the way is the front of the oil pan but it only hang below the frame 1/8th. material i used was 2"x3"x3/16"

man just quit!!
your makin me wanna build another toy!!

awesomely clean work

-Matt-

thanks guys, ya im not sure what winch ill run. but i will have one sooner than later so i kinda guesstimated based on another setup for the amount of stickout i need.

-Matt-

started on the motor mounts this evening, i have a busy weekend but they will probably be done by sunday. i used half of the original motor mount. the later style 3.4s had the thick stamped steel motor mounts instead of the cast ones some of the earlier styles had. made it really easy because the bolt pattern and depth changed so much on the mounting surface it would be a pain in the ass to completely start from scratch.

matt i know your probably going to box those but i still think it needs more. i think it should come down the inside of the frame rail so its grabbing the frame rather then sitting on top.

x2 would make it atleast twice as strong.
Im sure the thought is already in your head

-Matt-

ya i completely get what your saying, im compensating with another idea in my head. youll see. basically all the pressure on it either want to force it down or rip it inward. when i plate the ouside im gonna run it down the frame. plus its all 3/16s to 3/16s.. than alone is really strong

Those motor mounts look great! Nice way to "not reinvent the wheel" So to speak!

Great job, those are some very nice welds by the way.

Do you happen to have any pics of the frame after the IFS was removed but before you cut off the original frame rails.

ehhh no i dont really have any pics up close of the frame before i cut it off.. are you curious about something?

-Matt-

finished the motor mounts and cut off the support that was holding my frame and motor in place. its all 3/16s to 3/16s. i had to torch it just to get the bends in it. dont feel like working on it any more today but tomorrow ill probably cut the rest of the inner fender out and maybe put the axle underneath it just to see what i have to work with.

ya i exceeded the "free user" monthy bandwidth. so i made another account. all of the previous pictures will be back in action in 2 weeks. but now that i have a new account ill just use this for the mean time.

didnt get anything cool done but after work i chopped the inner fender out and plated where it comes off the cab. hopefully tomorrow i can get my axle underneath it.
