Formed plate rear bumper
« on: Apr 19, 2009, 10:17:07 AM »
here it is. formed 3/16'splate.  building 2 of them actually.  i didn't build the tire rack though.  has 2 legs on the back and 1 on each side.  i built a rear crossmember in the frame from 3 inch channel and bolted the bumper to that in the back.  exhaust will get routed through that hole on the drives side (what the owner wanted  :dunno: )

the bumper looks good. I dont know about the swing-out tho. I dont think it will hold up a very big tire.

I was thinking the same thing. Bumper looks great but the tire carrier looks a little weak.

my boss made the tire rack.  the main verticle part and the piece welded to the bumper are .250 wall.  this truck won't see anything type of hard wheeling is what i have been told.

looks like it'll be ok being supported at the hinge and where the speed nut is, in fact that will take alot of the load off the hinge  :twocents:
