I don't want to run 37's. 35's or maybe 36's if I do IROK's.

he used that bracket... but you can see he cut the end of the bracket and welded a piece of square tubing to the end.

I picked up an 83 front axle today and I'm getting ready to prep it. I have a low pinion 5.29 third and am going to cut and turn the knuckles for more caster and also to rotate the pinion up. I'm assuming I then must remove all the brackets including the perches and relocate them? Is it preferable to cut the knuckles with a pipe cutter or a cutting wheel on a grinder?

Sick truck. I was going to cut and roll mine but i came up on a hp 3rd. I heard pipe cutter is the way to go cause you get an even cut all around the axle. Cant to see more.

nice rig man, im building a 92 right now, what are the over all plans?

yjay

4" front lift, 5" rear, dual 2.28 cases, 5.29's open front for now-detroit rear, 35's probably hankook dynapro mt's, they worked good on my Jeep for all purpose, I'll make the bumpers and cage. It'll be my daily driver. Trying to keep it as light as I can. 22re's aren't awe inspiring so the lighter the better.

Leafs. Probably a kit. I know it won't twist like 63's, but it doesn't matter to me. I want streetability too and I think they'll be good.I may do creeper joints later if I want more, plus I can always play with the leaves. I've got a ton of misc. ones around.

glad to see you finally got an axle to start working on.
do I see FJ60 rotors in the plans? :gap:

IFS vented rotors. It's all gonna be pretty standard stuff.

Uh.... can you run IFS style Rotors?

FJ60 Rotors are vented.... and thats what Marlin sells as well as other vendors.

Yah ifs will work for sure and they are the cheaper way to go (not in quality but in price) . They are also easier to find too.

huh..... cause I know the rotors are not the same.
I compared my FJ60 rotors that came in my SAS kit and my 87 rotors last november and they were no close to the same.
I'm curious if they will give you the right offset.. .I dont think the calipers will sit on there right.

ifs rotors can be used with ifs hubs and a spacer kit from skyx, or you can mount the ifs caliper outside the mounting ears, that is probably what he is refering to

THK Matt

oh okay thanks for the info....
sounds to me its cheaper (30/pr Rotor) to get FJ60 Rotors at Napa.

Guess ya go with what ya got :P

A little torchin', a little grindin', an advanced case of brown lung and VIOLA!
Also, I believe you can run ifs rotors and calipers on a solid axle if you grind the calipers a smidge, am I wrong?
