well i planned to cut the  fender, but somehow    worked on the engine ground,  changed a bulb in my shop , and  installed a 3 inch round speaker  in the drivers door

i DID  look at the fender  but  everytimei got up from my chair  to get  the saw  i forgot what i was doing  and  thats how i started on the  speaker  and  the light bulb

stupid brain injury 

OH  and i tried to install the radiator  but  found out my frame  strengthening  is in the way
i used the welding rod as a pointer




gotta  get some wheels for the grinder 

and i looked over  the little boat winch that came on the  donor truck when i got it,   its a power in  winch only,  no  power out 




somehow i have to figure a way to adjust this little clutch

not sure now,  i HOPED  it was a power in/out  so i could use it to lift  heavy stuff into the bed,  but  no luck there

why not cut them at to the bottom of the headlight bezel/grille.

cause  by cutting them  where i marked  i can still put a  small metal brace in there  to keep them  from  cracking from stress over time

Your 1st gen fender mod experience far outweighs mine. Actually everything toy related that I know is nothing compared to your vast amount of toy knowledge.

i think if you cut where you have them marked and then round the sharp coners it would look pretty good.

Glen here's where I cut mine there were no issues at all they won't crack.

thanks, i'm gonna  fold  about a 1/4 inch under  so the  edge  is smooth

I just hacked mine off but if you bend a lip in there flat with the ground and throw a support rod on the lip it would be an excellent brace point. You could run the brace to the inside of the wheelwell. I thought about doing that but in the end I just hacked it off and was done with it.

i cut my fenders right under the headlight and have no problems...they are still very sturdy and have no chance of cracking ...i personally think they look good

I had issues with cutting them, I have always prided myself on keeping the original fenders, valance and just about anything in harms way. By the pictures you can see I kinda ran into a rock that was taller than my bumper . I had to do some trail repair on that one, the rock had pushed the fender in enough to hit the tires when I tried to turn. I also had a spare set on my wall in the garage so it wasn't a hard decision to make.

Looking good glen...maybe wrap the bumper around there to protect them and feed to rocks to the tires.

that way you can slide up a rock till the tire can climb it..
