wow dude you have horrible luck with diffs, you need to get a good brand of gears/bearing, have them set up good, and loose the welded carrier.

Pulled my diff.. gears are fine..
Three bolts backed out of the ring gear....   WTF happened to using locktight???

-Matt-

Yea ill have to do that.. IM just so broke its not even funny..
Im just gonna take all those bolts out and lock tight them back in..

It might have to weld the housing a little. im not sure if it wore through or not.. I think it did in one spot though.  But i don't have my welder at the moment..

Just a overall shitty time.. Im just stoked that the gears arn't fubar.  Not soo stoked about the pouring rain.. but ill manage!  :gap:

LoL mike mike mike if you only didnt dump the clutch everytime you take off your diffs would last alot longer.  Send them to bobby and get them cryod.  thats what I did after the first 5 diffs and I havent had any trouble with the one I had croyod and heat treated. just a thought.

Dingman.

So do you guys wanna plan a snow run soon????

P-DiseToy24

I'll mob my stocker but it wont be goin as far as your junk

basser530

i'll be ready in not this weekend but next. I have to finish the break in on my new R&P.   :bananasplit: :bananasplit: :bananasplit: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I will be going that weekend no matter what.

Dingman.

Picked up a high pinion 5.29 diff tonight to throw in teh front of the truck..

gonna take the front diff out now and remove the locker and put a open 5.29 in the back.

Unless anyone wants to trade me my 4cyl 5.29 diff with detroit ez locker for a v6 setup diff with good quaility 5.29's..

IronClad

you want me to weld one up for you dude ? :pokinit: wont break or is it a v6 diff going in the back?

Word hard, Keep your head in the game and if anyone gets in your way tell them you don't give a damn !

Dingman.

I want to get a v6 diff in the back..

Actually what i really want is a Detroit locker in the back.. Honestly the welded diff is pretty irrating.. but at the same time so is open off road.

But i would rather have a open v6 5.29 than a open 4cyl 5.29

Dingman.

E locker in the back would be sweet too..

any selectable or detroit is what i would want..

for now im gonna focus on getting this diff up front and prob save up for a good locker for the back.

Dingman.

Okay so that front arb.. that copper line got smashed a little, looks as if it did when it was installed last time.

Im not sure if it leaks or not, im going to put some air to it to make sure for certain.. if it does leak, are those lines hard to replace?

Dingman.

So put that high pinion arb diff in the front tonight!

It is pretty sick.. Driveline vibration is gone too.

Bad news though.. the front diff i had installed since i sas'd well i was planning on taking the locker out and running it in the back as an open 5.29..

Well took that diff out and guess what?  Tooth missing off the ring gear.. :pissed:
how does that happen?

Dingman.

I mean, i understand how gears break..

But one tooth only on the ring gear?  in the front diff ive taken it super easy on..

I understand the problems ive had with the rear diffs, but ive always been easy in 4wd cause i always had stock birfs.

Dingman.

Dingman.

me either..

Had it happen once in a rear v6 5.29 yukon diff setup..

had it happen to this front too.. 4cyl 5.29 yukon gear setup.

Both sets of yukons that ive had issues with were both just one tooth popping off.

Im gonna grab a picture of it once my camera gets enough battery power to take a photo..

Heres a pic of the first diff i had problems with. yukon 5.29 v6 one tooth only.

who setup your diffs dude?

Most of them have been bought used. so i have no idea. (i know, problem right there)

The one i just posted was set up by zuk.. don't think that is an issue on that one..

IronClad

thats very weird  yukon gears are very very good.. my 10bolt gears have been put through the ringer.. mix matched bearings ive lost like 2 pinion bearings.. ran without oil and the pinion bearing melted to the pinion lol.. all ive done is stuck new bearings in and i used a dremmal with a scuffing type deal on it to clean the teeth up.. still kickin just fine

also just kind of looking at that tooth it looks like a defect in the heat treating. but can only tell so much from a pic

Well you know what?

I believe the other ring gear looks like it broke in the exact same way..  Let me get a pic to verify..
