only reason we told you to hang on to it for a while is couse your truck was tits, in chrises case the trucks them selves had problems which weren't worth dealing with

Sluice Box Hero

the problem is once you start building them the loose their resale vale immensly.  youll never get what you have into it back out of it, luckily for chris he hasnt really put any big dollar parts into any of the last trucks so he didnt lose moeny each time.  never the less i say build this one, turn it into a tin can, then pull the cab and do it all over to another cab.  i plan on putting a 3rd gen ex cab on my frame when my body gets mashed to bad to stay warm in the winter.

I know, but there is no point putting money into somthing that you really dont want. I feel the 4runner will be good for us!

my next project is way more long term. I wont mind putting a 3.4 in it. SAS either 60s or toyota or whatever. Gears, chromos, duals etc. I made that truck to what it was, I can do it again. And this time I wont have to do it on as much as a budget as I had. Dude I had like no :pokinit: maybe 60 bucks worth of suspension on that truck. The most expensive stuff was the tires and gears. the locker I got for free and I welded the rear.

Trust me when I say that it had to be done and it is what we needed if I wanted to keep wheelin.

I guess I just dont get the whole buy this sell that thing. I started an 84 standard cab build back in 98' after seeing what a 4Runner could look like while at the hammers and seeing John Bundrants runner. I quickly set eye's on getting one. After that it was no looking back.

Chris I know you said you regret selling your Runner. But I've thought that any of your builds could be great. Personnelly, I liked your v6 Taco just as much as your Runner.

?  Do you have an ideal platform?(Body type)
?  Have you owned your ideal platform yet?

If you have your ideal platform, what makes it not worth fixing. Or do you even have a type that you what to build into your Ultimate Vehicle.

There are a lot of reasons why i got rid of my last 3 trucjs and bought this one.

I got rid of the runner for the 97 taco cause it was a "legit trade"

Found out the 97 was full of problems i didnt want to deal with so i came acrouss the 02 and the guy traded me and i got 2k dollars. Fully legit.

I didnt like the 3rz and the single cab, it was just a way to get rid of my 97 so i did.

SO i wanted to sell the 02 for a long tome but never did till now.

I bought the 89 just since i want to keep the audi and still be able to wheel this season. If i end up liking it (which so far i do) then i will keep it.

My ideal platform was my 97 taco with a 3.4 and an ex cab and a 5 speed. I was stoked on it. It just had problems and no interior and I didnt want to deal with it. I will sometime buy a tacoma ex cab with a 3.4 and swap in 1 tons and 40s. That is when I have money. I could have waited and bought a stocker and built it now but id rather wheel then stare at a project that wouldnt get done for a long time.

Pretty much Callen and Matt have it right on as to why me selling them was not a big deal. If i could right now id still have my runner but oh well. I thought the 97 was legit but it wasnt at all.

plus you have so much more experience now that you have owned and wheeled all of those trucks. IMO its pretty cool to be able to have all that knowledge and experience. especially since we are still pretty young, i mean most people don't start building there truck way legit and custom till there at least older than 20 (for financial reasons) so you still have plenty of time.

Doof

i fully agree with everything you did with your trucks to this point... you had to do what you HAD to do so you did it.
i do miss that runner a lot though, 2 con trips, a lot of highlakes runs, a lot of drifting and a :pokinit: ton of power...

to bad you arent able to get it back

edit:

if you were able to have it back the way you traded it would you?

I saw it for sale about 2 months after i got rid of it. I wanted to buy it too.

its ok though, your new truck is sick, its got some sweet do dads so you can can still wheel the crap out of it,and you can still build it how ever you want. as long as you have something to wheel thats all that matters.

TacoRunner

Its not wether the trade is legit or not, (only you can decide that) its why or what makes you say, OK im tired of this POS.

Chris, (not to get all mushy) you are a cool dude, I like you alot, but you just traded a stanard cab 3RZ that has the same power as a 3.slow and for another standard cab. sorry but,  :headscratch:

I dont think anyone here can argue, your decision to get a daily driver, I think it's a great idea.

Im just curious why or what makes you go, Im not interested in this anymore.

Ok so you just want something to wheel, while you are waiting to get rich. Cool. I can relate. I guess it just sounds funny when you think about that fact that you've had 5 trucks in 4 years.(I just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.)

(OK my girlfiend is bitching that I talking you you and not her, so Im going go now and see if I can salvage a piece of ass tonight)

Took it up to the snow today. It did badass. The power of the 22re sucks but oh well, i have my car that i can drive. Didnt even get that bad of mileage for how much i was pinning it. If it was my taco id be on E but this one still has like 3/8 a tank left.

anyway, it did fully awesome. Locked front and rear with iroks at 3 psi is badass. I was goin pretty much anywhere i wanted. I dont know if it was as cool as my 97 on 39.5s at like 2 psi but it was close.

I did somehow break out the rear tail light. and also when i was driving i sunk into a hole and hit a tree. Pretty lame. Hit my fender but its chill. And also the #4 cylinder spews oil when im on inclines so im pretty sure the rings are toast. It also lost a lot of power today so again im pretty sure it just has no compression at all. Oh and now the tranny whines way worse. Sounds like a supercharger under my seat.

Soooo glad its not my DD.

Ill get pics a little later

There isnt much at all. Like a foot and a half at Lotts T.
