wow....that answered my question of weather or not to get the elimintor kit. :gap:
is it worth it to go to longs and risk breaking a third or ring gear, or is it better off to carry spare birfs and save the money??

longs are the way to go.... do you wanna be holding up the trail all the time out changing your stock birfs??? longs will never break....

i would say go with the longs for sure.  i dont think you will break a ring gear that often.

people need to stop doing the whole discussion on aftermarket birfields. longfields are the best you can buy and proven period. why settle for anything less and buy something half as strong just to save a $100 or so dollars. do you like changing birfs out on the trail? no, it sucks. it holds up your group and the trail as well. i remember when i broke a stock birf. i went directly home and ordered up my set of longs and it took 3 1/2 years till one of mine failed. when it broke it didnt even break worth a damn. the star had 2 hair line cracks allowing the inner shaft to spin inside it stripping the shaft as well. then what happens, i sent mine back and got a brand new set that were even stronger. get some longs and call it a day on the worrying about breaking one on the trail for a LONG time if not ever again. theres no thinking involved here.

well yes there is no thinking about it now that i know this much about them.  i have NO experiance with them and i know NOBODY in my area that has ran them. so with that being said i thought it would be a good idea to get some feedback for myself to help sway my decision in saving money to buy them.  i'm sorry that it pisses you off that i am trying to get this feedback before spending 800 bucks.   and it is good to hear that it took you 3.5 years before breaking one.  i now know that i will definately be spending my money on Longs as soon as i have it.

so i really want to buy a set of 30 spline Longs with hub gears which will cost about 760 bucks.  So guess what shows up in the mail today.....    i got a check back from my escrow account on my mortgage.  apparently there was a "surplus" of money from the last 12 months of escrow payments.  So anyways the amount they sent back is 764.00 bucks!  holy crap!  talk about coincidence!  i think its a sign from God that i need to buy new axles

I like what you have done with the "pumkin" Just wonderin about the T-100 brake booster. What years can u pull one off of. And where'd you get the 1" bore MC? Is it also from the T-100? Thanks and I really like how you re-did the rear of the frame, so clean. Any more progress since a few months ago or just workin on the house?

thanks for the compliments swapped89!  i got my brake booster off a 96 4x4 V6 t-100. but i'm sure one off any year and model should work.  it bolts right up, no mods necessary!  and the 1 inch bore MC is a marlincrawler unit.  unfortunately i havnt really made any changes lately, just been trying to wheel it alot and still breaking axles!  i think i broke my 6th birf elim axle about three weeks ago.  I'm hoping to get some shock hoops bent up this week at work for the front too.

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

no im not hopin, i'm usually kinda bound up in a tight spot then they snap.  my steering stops were bent so bad i think i was turning too sharp and causing the joints to bind up and break the shafts.

Sorry dudes!  I have majorly been slackin on the updates lately!  So recently these are a few things i have done.....  built some shock hoops for the front and welded them in with some long travel shocks. Got a pair of 14" bilstiens put on the back. I just finished cleaning up a bunch of wiring in the engine bay tonight.  I eliminated so many dead end plugs and wires that were hangin everywhere!  It looks super clean in the engine bay now. I will get pics of everything tomorrow hopefully. Oh and also got a 12" slip front DL from inchworm and a flat pitman arm that is supposed to be here tomorrow. Pretty excited to get that stuff put on

Alright i finally got a few pics to post!  i got my new front driveline welded up and installed.  I took a little fabbing to get the flat pitman arm to clear everything, but i love it now that its on!  I had to notch the bottom of the frame so the nut for the tie rod end would clear the frame.  I just  marked it out, notched it with the cut-off wheel, and then welded in half of a piece of tubing to close the frame back up. It turned out pretty sick!  I have lots of clearance between the pitman arm and leafs now.

In the third pic i'm using a couple 1x4's clamped to the rotors to check my toe-in.
Fourth pic is my freshly painted dif armor!
The others are of my new shock hoops i bent up.
