Nice man, Im leanin towards cab swappin my 4runner and building a cage like yours. I take it you have somewhat of a flatbelly?
thanks, yeah i really like the cab swap!  mine used to be an 82 regular cab short bed. the floors were so rusted out though, i had to do the cab swap.  i built my own x-member/skidplate. i was able to raise the drivetrain quite a bit while also getting rid of the stock low hanging one.  heres the best pics i have.  the bottom of the skid is only one inch below the framerails.

as you can see in that last pic i had to notch the "horsecollar" cross memeber quite a bit to clearance the driveshaft, because the drivetrain is lifted so much.  i also got a front driveshaft off of a late model IFS truck and had it extended for the rear.  i had LOTS of gear backlash noise coming from the t-cases while running on the highway. that new driveshaft fixed it all!

i have thought about that alot.  i have heard weird things about it though.  i had a guy with that setup tell me he has slow throttle response with propane. i guess thats not really a big deal for me but the other problem is finding a place here in town to re fuel it!

alright friends, i finally got to go out wheelin yesterday and test out the new work.  everything went great!  only thing i noticed is that my tires are rubbing on the rear shocks so i will have to move the mounts a bit, not a big deal though.  heres some pics

i really dig your truck whats next on thelist pumpkin

pumkin toy

thanks guys!  well the next thing on the list would be too build some sort of toolbox/storage compartment behind the cab. and i also want to make some sheetmetal "bedsides" for the rear of the cage. i think it would give it a pretty sweet buggy look.

i'm usually not a fan of exos or tube beds but i sure do love your truck haha :D

you need to hook that 1st gen up with some new tube work...

pumkin toy

well thank you!  yeah the first gen is my dads rig. its kind of a beater but that damn thing goes everywhere mine does with 34" tires on it!  he doesnt really have much money into it at all.   we have plenty of ideas for it in mind but it really isnt a prority for him because he doesnt go wheelin that often. but when he does go, he has fun in it!

well i finally got some pics loaded up and resized from last weekend.  we went and ran a couple trails.  cleared some trees and deadfall from the trail so we can run it this summer. then the next day we ran a more formidable trail that has kicked my ass twice so far in the past, and last weekend was no different.  we had alot of rain lately and it washed out some of our trails leaving them with big holes and more exposed boulders. so some trails have gotten harder and some easier.  the one we ran has gotten harder. its  short wheelbase friendly so i am already at a dis-advantage, plus all the rain caused me to get wedged on my frame and i ended up breaking a front axle.  here are some pics!

well we have some too but they say it is not for highway use. so that means every time i need to fill up i would have to remove the tank from the truck to get it filled.  that would suck
