are you going to tie that hoop to the crossmember?
yes eventually it will be all tied together.  like i said above i have some things put in place temporarily just so i can drive it. i still have alot of fabbing and finishing to do.

here is a few more pics. i was measuring for shocks today and got some poser shots in the plowed snow by my house.  the snow is about 32 inches deep to the bottom of my tire in these pics. i still have alot of weight to put in the back and my front shocks are too short, so i know it will flex even more.  i never could have gotten it to flex this good without any weight in the back before i moved the springs inboard.  i am really excited to get everything done in the back!

Nice!

What kind of shocks are you going to run?
i think i am gonna order some 14" bilsteins from marlin.  i need the stability of a gas pressurized shock in the rear.  right now i have a pair of TRD shocks off of an FJ Cruiser on the front. they worked good for a while but they are not long enough either. i already blew one out.  i am going to bend up some shock hoops for the front and get some longer shocks eventually.

i got alot of work done on friday night and saturday.  i clearanced the stock x-member for the rear driveline, got my fuel tank mount/skidplate all welded in, got the new rear driveline built from a front cv style shaft, turned my pinion up and welded on the perches, welded in new supports for the rock sliders, and finally got some tube bent for the rear end. i still have more tube work and gussetting to do.  here are some pics!

X2 nice work! any plans to plate/skin the sides?
yeah i still have to weld in some tube gussetts and stuff like that, but i am really thinking about some putting some skin on.  i think it would look sweet with some rock buggy style skins.  i also need to plate in the corners in the back so i can mount the tail lights

Looks great!

Nice welds. I may have missed it, but what Hobart are you using?

I love the radius bend! Nice touch!

Also, you might not know this, but what's the difference between Explorer / Ranger / F150 spring packs? I may have known at one time, but I can't remember anymore.

Thanks for any help you might offer, and keep up the good work!

wow that turned out nice, how far inboard are the rears?
thank you!  i moved the springs in three inches on each side and the new frame dovetails six inches overall.

i was using a hobart 175.  220v welder.  its about five years old and works great!  it is pretty much the same as the hobart 187 which is the most current model.       and honestly i couldnt tell you much about the deifference between the ford springs :-\  i just went to the junkyard and took some measurements. the explorer springs are what i decided to go with.  i would imagine that the f150's are probly longer and the ranger springs might be pretty comparable.  and thanks for the comments!

thanks dude!  my shocks will be here friday. i just ordered some regular shocks instead of bilsteins from the local 4x4 shop.  my dad used to own the business so i get to buy everything i need from him at 10% above wholesale. the shocks only cast me 33 bucks each!  they have 13 inches of travel so they should work out good.
