yes efi Does, i think 5500 rpm..  But down shifting cannot be controlled by a rev limiter..  the revving is being done by the momentum of your rig and the gear you slam it in too..  but pushing the clutch in should do the trick

i dont even see how 9k is possible, thats outside the range of the stock tach... and even then, what did he slam it into first while doing 80 mph? just sounds liek a gross exaggeration

he has 35" mtr's and was runnin down the interstate in 3rd at 4500 and went for 4th, and grabbed a handful of second. and 5500?  that cant be true, ive had my 4runner up to 6500 all day long, so deffinantly not a 5500 rev limiter

a 22RE wont breathe (restriction in the intake and head) enough to rev past 6500 or maybe 7000, without cam changes and some porting
the 22R/RE is a long stroke engine and  really doesnt like anything over 6500,(bottom end)  meaning you really have to work  to get that rpm

unless your running a 20R head on a 22R with a big cam like i used to, i miss that motor :burnout:

it died when i dropped the #4 exhaust valve at 7200 rpm,

my tach goes yellow at 5000 and red at 6000

No rev limiter in a Toyota, just the limits of the engine to suck that much through the intake. Then of course the valves floating and creating a limiter-like feeling.

Stock is 198°, .398" lift, 110° center

the 261 cam that i have is 218° & .425" lift, 110° center.

The 261C has more duration @ .050" lobe lift, 222°. It has less lift,
.410", and faster ramp speed, so it recovers quickly off idle and has more
RPM portential..Perhaps 3-4 H/P less at peak but longer powerband.

i wouldnt be concerned with over reving, unless you plan to sit at redlights with your foot on the floor for some reason
