marlin board is spying on you!!!!

LOG OFF  once you're done!

If you're not on the board, but have selected a time limit that keeps you logged on for later use, 

YOU'RE BEING SPIED ON!

I've noticed that various windows are waiting for things to complete from board.marlincrawler.com (were 'Done' on lower left corner is) even when you're not attached to the board in any of your open windows.

What's the deal with the spying?

BTW, I've noticed this from different machines too....

I think your onto something  :yikes: Ive seen lil' turtles  :turtle3: in my neighbor hood.... almost like " tenage mutant nija turtles " but way slower  :turtle: , they came down a rope from "black hellicopters"  :hammerhead: and tried to brain wash me  :willynilly: but to no avail I have no brain so they moved on  :shocking:.... as soon as " I PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE " all the images went away  :smack: :slap:

I have seen strange things  2  before

IN the lower left hand corner of your browser ( firefox)    theres the word "DONE"    lets you know  the page has loaded/what is loading .   I have seen strange apps  loading also.

Now i have not noticed or seen any in a while  but i'll keep a :eye:  out and see if i can :snapshot:  or write it  down.

You probably left it open on the forum homepage where the shoutbox is. It auto refreshes every so often (using JavaScript most likely), and when it does, the scripts will print "Done" on the status bar.

Quit using IE. The spies can't figure out FireFox.

Exactly, if you disable auto refresh it stays as done.  And yes again, IE is crap, FF3 is the only thing worth running. :greengrin:

Well shoot, I would rather marlin spies on me the the gubment.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

It's repeatable.   May not be noticed on highspeed broadband but is on dialup and slower DSL.

I think it's has something to do with the smilies in the shoutbox.....

Bring up the home board page and wait...........

If there are any smilies in the shout box and someone posts a message there, you'll start to get uploads every minute or so (watch lower left of window).

The strange thing is, you can leave the marlin site (in the same window) and you'll still get the downloads every minute or so.............

Do you use crap ass IE or firefox?  I use firefox and have never had it happen.  I'd say IE is spying on you, but I don't need to play captain obvious today  :thumbs:

Firefox is just faster at reloading, I use Firefox and it does it for me. Just sit on the front page for a few minutes and you'll see it go through the reload in the bottom left corner where it says done.
