I went with 30 spline longs and started blowing up diffs, took 3 sets to convince me to toss the toy axle completely and go with a 60.  Either dump alot of money in the toy axle, or dump alot of money in a 44.

agree. i was on my 3rd front r/p if i were to of fix it but i sold it all off. the longs are bad ass,  you get them and then everything else starts falling apart around them, sooner or later. i broke a long as well. ya put all the money into one or the other, not both. thats to much work.

EDIT: an for the record which i could be wrong but i think marlins going on around 2 years with the non hybrid. i think the first time i saw his truck he had it. then the next time he was on the trail behind me he had a standard toy front. someone correct me if im wrong.

I believe Marlin was running a 60 hybrid front. Same as I was for a while. Basically 60 knuckles & necked down & resplined shafts. Toyota center section.

I am still running one of the very first redline birf eliminator sets. I run 33" tires and am easy on the pedal. That said I think you are better off going with the longs, they are a stronger product hands down.

so at first you where running a dana 60 hybrid, and then you whent for a dana 44 ???   I am a litle confused.

why would you go from a d60 hybrid to a dana 44..

I am running birf eliminator now, dana 44 axle shafts in Toyota front. The hybrid was quite heavy and not well suited for the large amount of road driving I do. The vendor that was supplying parts for them dropped out of the market also.

oh well then that would make sense why to drop the hybrid and use a toyota.

so the birf eliminator allows the benifits of a 44 (u-joints) and still has the advantages of a Toyota (closed knuckles)

This is correct. Still not as strong as 30 spline longs. Finding an axle shaft to get home after breaking one is not going to happen without ordering & waiting on delivery.

According to their web site All Pro still offers a D-60/Toyota hybrid.

http://allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=53

One of the problems with a Birfield Eliminator is they have to turn the U-joint yokes down in order to get them to fit in the knuckle balls on the Toyota housing, hence making them weaker.
