I'm thinkin I'll try to do a steak, egg and baked tater camping breakfast tomorrow on the griddle to try it out for egg cooking tomorrow morning.

I really do love how you can take all the parts out so easily for cleaning though. I have the grills, the atomisor plates soaking and the grease tray cleaned.

Actually I'm doing taylor ham and eggs over medium

One thing I could see would be handy would be if it had a split hood so you could close one half and leave the other half open.

 but of course that would mean you would have hood lip down the middle too which wouldn't work for full grill grilling.

If by "bang" test you mean throwing it around, only time will tell, the legs and shelves are plastic, but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't stand up to abuse, but being as it has only been sitting there in our yard for a couple days now till we get it on the road and see what it can do in 'real life tests' I won't really know.

I should fold it up and see how it is transport and store it.

Here's my family of BBQ's.

My first grill and its gas.

My next love, the one that introduced me to briquets.

And my newest toy with the fire side smoker box.  Which I love the slow traditional bbq flavor over the others.  But you have to have patience.  But I can grill if I want to just grill with it too!

My first attempt at slow cooking, and it still turned out good!

I had that exact grill (like your first one) only mine didn't have the side burner. It wasn't a bad grill at all. I did love that thing. But on to bigger and better things I guess.  :beerchug:

Cheesemaker

I still use it, but I have spendt more on replacing the burner, the lava rocks, deflector shield, and the igniter every couple months.  So, I only use it in the dead of winter or for ??  I use it to heat the water for my smoker.

Yeah, if you look under the meat in the one picture you will see a large roasting pan.  And if you put water in it, (beer, wine or whatever) it will help with keeping the temperature in the cooking area at a more even temp.  Instead of fighting the fluctuations in cooking temp everytime you add more coals, or wood for smoke.  It also helps to keep the meat moist, by not drying it out!

If I use the side cooker to heat the water, it takes alot of the heat out of the smoker box, and I have to use twice the amount of briquets, and wood to cook my food!  By heating the water on the gas grill, I am able to start cooking alot earlier.

Yeah, I had one of those tall smokers and it had a pan for water too.
I never thought about pre-heating it though. Great idea.

If I had a hickory tree I image that would be an option, but I don't, so no, not an option.

I'm really glad you're pleased with it, I thought it was really cool too. I just love that it's got a place for everything, the design is very well thought out. I have got to get a car window flag made to put in the slot in the right side tray. I think that is so cool.
Very versatile and cooks really well to boot.

Of course if it rains my paper towels are going to be a bit soggy if I forget to take them off the grill, which I probably will but it's cool having everything you need right there.
