Thanks everyone.
So I have been working on gusseting things to kill the time while not spending any money.
But I am starting to collect parts for the duals, getting a t-case this weekend  .
I have also decided that I am going to do a full flat belly when I do the duals.  :yesnod:
I did a measurement and my stock cross-member sits 7" lower than the frame rails, so I will get a whole lot more clearance (like adding 14" more of tires)

dude now you got me all confused :headscratch: I dont know whether to think about skiing or wheelin  :willynilly:
Haha  :haha:
Do what I do. think about wheeling all week and the ski on the weekend. easy as that. you dont have to think about skiing that much.

So I got some presents over the weekend. I got super lucky; 2 t-cases, a W-56 tranny, and a Marlin rebuild kit for the tranny.
All for $125.  the rebuild costs 600 alone

I took the crawler apart for the front case, now I need to order my adapters  :yesnod:

Dude score! ha ha you know that already though.
So you are going with stock gearing in both cases?
22RE .30 over, mild cam, K&N, LCE header, 2.25'' pipe, high flow cat, Magnaflow.
 Marlin 1200LB clutch

 no substitute for 4wheel drive.

are you making that front case into a top shift or is your tranny a forward shift?

yea I think I am going to stay with the stock 2.28 gears. I would like the 4.7s but i dont think I am going to have the money.

I have the 3.0 which is front shift but I will need the adapter as well, so Im not sure it will work being front shift.

im pretty sure you are going to have to put a block off plate on the tranny and make the crawl box a top shift since the shift rail wont reach that far and engage correctly because of the front adapter plate.

Yea I thought about it a little bit more, I will definitely have to make it top shift since the 3.0 adapter will push it a 1/2" back.

Here are some pics from the other weekend. Carnage Canyon(boulder) is closed but I wanted to go check out the trails around it. They are building some new obstacles to replace Carnage also.

This is right on top of one of the new obstacles they are building.

this should be fun once it opens

Thanks guys I appreciate it. :beerchug:
The goal with the bumper was to make it as simple as possible. It is pretty beefy also. I guess I could support the sides to the frame, but Im not sure its necessary.

So I got my duals assembled over the weekend. I have to get some more things together but the plan is to flat belly and install the duals over spring break :crossed: which is in a week.

here is the 23 spline input compared to the 21 spline. now I have 23 spline all the way through.

and here are the duals assembled and twin sticked.

So my spring break was no where near as productive as I had hoped :shake_head:
I was kicking ass and everything was going smoothly. I dropped the tranny and was changing out the clutch when  I run into a big problem. The clutch pressure plate won't fit my flywheel!!  :tantrum:

This was two saturdays ago so I had to wait until monday to get feedback from them. They tell me to send it back to them asap so they could figure out what was wrong and get back to me. I call them today and they still haven't taken a look at it, they have had it since last wednesday. I never hear anything bad about marlins customer service, but this sucks.

Anyways beside the unfortunate circumstances with marlin, I still managed to get some work done. I started to cut a new tunnel to fit the duals for the flat belly, also made seat brackets for the Civic Si seats i got, And started to make the cross-member.
here are some pics...

this is the center plate I made for the crossmember. I plan on cutting this to fit in the tunnel nicely, and then run it down into a piece of 2x2 which will go frame rail to frame rail.

Here is what the inside of the cab is looking like. I have the center cut out for the most part. I also put a couple coats of herculiner down. Im thinking that I want to frame the hole out with some angle iron, and then make a top piece that would be fully removable so that you could see the entire drivetrain from inside the cab. I don't know what an advantage of this would be, but I also don't see a disadvantage

Here is the drivetrain with the duals on. While it is nice to see this, it really sucks that it isn't under the truck. I was going to clean it up all nice but I dont really think it is worth it when it is going to get dirty anyways.

Also, one other thing, Im not positive but I dont think i will have to mess with the horse collar  On the 3rd gen xtra cab it looks far enough back that the drive shaft will clear. Im not sure if I will be going to a one piece drive shaft or not but i think i will be ok either way.
here is the under side. the rear out put flange ends at where the belly is cut, and you can see the horse collar is a ways back.

Haha  Yea the Ace Hardware near me was going out of business, and they were getting rid of everything. I decided I would just throw the cart in the back of the truck instead of unloading it.
it works great as a welding cart. And free  :gap:

looking good!
little suggestion on the driveline situation..
keep the 2 piece drive line, and shorten the side that connect to the trans.
Also, you can cut your carrier bearing bracket, and raise it a couple inches to get a little more clearance for the rear shaft.

If you get 1 piece, youll have to have a thick hardcore one made, cause they stick way down...

  sorry, but thanks
So, I got a good amount done this weekend. The clutch problem was sorted out and the tranny was up last weekend. This weekend I got it completely flat and got the cross member finished.
here are some picks

here are the basic crossmember components.

here is the cross member finished and the up in its place.

And here is how far the tranny is up inside the  cab.

It's look really good.

The shopping cart is bad ass I was going to do that I was just to lazy to get out of my truck and throw a cart in it haha.

Also I was confused with running a one piece or not and as Goose said a two piece is the way to go I haven't moved my carrier bracket up yet and i still have more atleast 3 inches more clearance at the carrier then i would with a 1 piece.

And I like how you cut the piece that bolts to the t-case.
I should have cut mine like that in the beggining but now i'm just going to plate where the holes are.

89 extra cab stock on 1 tons.
83 rolled with built toy axles
92 2wd DD
first gen cab

Check out the build.
