Alright We got a lot done this weekend.
Sliders are on, Bed is Bobbed and Dove tailed.
The plan is to get 85Xtra cabs Ausie and longs installed before the colorado jamboree as well.

Here are the sliders. They are welded with 1/4" scab plates at diamonds. the gussets run to the top of the frame and are also made of 1/4" plate. They sit nice and tight with the 20* angle and give a good amount of protection from the side.

Here is the bed. We bobbed it 9 inches and took it in 6 inches on both sides. I would have liked to have bobbed it a little more but I couldn't with the chevy springs. I think it turned out real nice but still needs to be finished up. On the dove tail we used a laser on the ceiling to draw the lines. we drew them over the wheel wells so that we wouldn't have to mess with any of the mounts. It is real nice because we dont really lose any bed space, except behind the wheel wells, the space between the wheel wells stays the same.

first cut

second cut

tacked back together

lined out for the dove tail

cut it

everything tied together

took it out a little bit after we wrapped it up.

thanks guys
The plan is to have it locked up front and with 30 splines by the first of august. also have a cheap rear bumper on it and everything beefed up. duals are going to have to wait until I get some money which will most likely be next summer.

Haha Its gone a long ways this summer. Very fun build

So 30 splines and the ausie showed up today. time to get those in.
To do list before the weekend:
install ausie and longs in the front
finish bed and paint
finish bumper
make halfdoors
gusset front hanger
gusset shock hoops
front bump stops

Time to get bussy

Matty

get bussy!

see you in two days lets get it donne!

jarboarder1

So we just about got everything done that we wanted to. bed will be done today except for the tailgait still needs work. Also we still need to gusset some things just to beef it up, but besides that we got it all.

Time to go take it out for a few days for the colorado jambo.
pics coming soon!

You should dovetail your front and install that E locker!

jarboarder1

No sorry.
The build is kinda at a stand still due to school starting up and insufficient funds

15.50_STock

Dovetailing the front is cheap. Do it!

Great looking buildup.  I have to say I'm jealous of you guys that live in CO.  Thankfully my wife live there and I get to wheel there about once a year.

Great job btw on the bed.  Very clean job.  I hate when guys don't care and just cut the crap out of it.  Yours however was done very cleanly.  Have you had any problems with the cops yet?

jarboarder1

Alright so I thought I would do an update.I have been more into skiing than working on the truck, but lately I cant stop thinking about wheeling.
So over Christmas break I finished up all the details on the bob and dovetail, and over the weekend I finished the tailgate and the bumper.

Here is the bed all finished. The wheel wells had gaps where it was cut but I got those welded shut and cleaned them up nicely. I also welded the wheel wells on the underside for added strength, and secured the bracing. It is WAY more solid now.

Over the weekend I started off by making the tail gate. Surprisingly It works better than it did before. I didnt worry about doing any bondo work on it though since it is already dinged up pretty badly and will only get worse. I love how it makes the bed complete and it also adds a ton of rigidity to it

After the tail gate I finished up the bumper. The bumper was quickly thrown together last summer a few hours before the CO4RJ. The ends were not capped off and it looked pretty bad. so I decided to cap everything off and grind it all down nicely.

all put together
