I guess I am taking the plunge, been negotiating with my brother and we are going to open a shop. It currently is a 3 bay and a carwash. There is also another side that is closed off but will support more bays. It has been closed for a couple years so we've been working on repairing the the carwash and have it up and running as of yesterday. We set up a deal with Valvoline, and I spoke with their rep. yesterday and they are going to support us full tilt with all of their products I just need to let them know a timeline. We also have a deal with Goodyear Tires the current plan is to have a carwash, lube & oil change and tire service. The place is in an awesome location on Palm Canyon Dr. (Hwy 111) Just off of Date Palm  on the border of Palm Springs and Cathedral City. I have thrown out a bunch of other things we can do and after we get up and running we'll see if we want to expand our operation. Here are some pics of the place, it's gonna be a challenge and lots of work but once in high gear it'll be a great operation.

Since we will be selling Valvoline products exclusively we will be painting the building red, white and blue but the great thing is we will not be franchised so there won't be those corporate issues to deal with, we can run it our way. The operation will be centralized with everything being done through a single business since none of it will be franchised not even the Goodyear end. The full service carwash is being vended through Cararoma, we don't even have to maintain the machines they are taking care of that since we will be using their chemicals exclusively.

Our target start up date is April 1st., wish us luck.

Sounds like a sweet deal! Congratulations and, of course, the best of luck.

I just Google Earth'd  the location. Holy crap, it looks like a killer site, right on a busy corner at a shopping center.

Southern CA the wheeling mecca of the world. Actually Palm Springs is a resort town in the low desert of So. Cal. Lots of Celebs keep second homes here and some actually live here. At one time Sonny Bono (Sonny & Cher) was the Mayor here.
