I know, I'd kill for one of those... so purdy. It sucks we didn't get a double cab until the tacoma.

This is a really cool thread on ih8mud.com. Its all about foreign expedition rigs and the adventures they go on. There are some really crazy stories and awesome expedition Toyotas.

The bed is also 3rd gen, I´ve had two 3rd gen DCs with tiedown hooks on the bedsides. IIRC these beds are only on the diesels.

awesome thread fourtysixandtwo  Someday an expedition rig would be really cool to own.  Oh and the Top Gear Episode is AWESOME.  I have all the Top Gear episodes and for those of you that haven't seen Top Gear you're missing out.

Thanks! Definitely would love to turn one of those 70 Series troopies into an expedition rig. They are so cool. Top Gear is definitely a sweet show, the Arctic Adventure, Destroying a Hilux and the Driving on Water episodes are probably two of my favorites but the show itself is bad ass for sure.

Just using US terminology.  Those beds were only on 1st gens here, and a few 2nd gens (2wd only I believe, but not positive)  :gap:

I think it has less to do with laws and emissions as it does the market. The US market is unique in a lot of ways, the automotive market is just one example. The rest of the world demands hard use, reliability, and longevity. The American auto market demands luxury and idiot-proof vehicles that make driving skills and prowess behind the wheel obsolete. Honestly, where else in the world will you find cars that PARALLEL park themselves????

True, true...  I think some of the cars are stupid.  I personally enjoy the challenge of parallel parking, I usually am able to fit my toyota pickup in spots most cars are affraid to park.  It's actually nice to know how to park.  I can always find a spot in my 2 door toyota echo.
