I've read that Mahindra's Jeep knock-offs that they built for years are crap - even worse than regular jeeps.  I've also read good things about their tractors so :dunno:  I do know that it is taking longer than expected for them to open up dealers here in the U.S.  They were supposed to be open for business back in Feb, but I think the feds have put some restrictions on them.

Yeah, they were supposed to be distributed through Global Vehicle Sales, but decided to sell them direct themselves. Then GVS pulled a bunch of legal crap trying to bar them from selling here period. Just more BS in the shitty American auto market keeping Americans from what they really want/need.

Since this pertains to the topic at hand I thought I'd post a couple pictures of Toyotas in war zones around the world. Thanks to Prismo for the link.

When I worked at a toyota dealer, I saw a couple of those double cab tacos after they came back from Afganistan.  The paint was all dulled up (looked like someone took a brillo pad to it) the rear springs were shot, they had brush guards on the front that were all bent to hell, they had machine gun tourits that looked all booty fabbed and had com units installed for 4 passengers.  By the bullet holes, it was pretty obvious these trucks had been to hell and back, but they were still running!

Yep, gotta love the Toys over there... From what I gathered the paint was dulled to keep the "shiny American trucks" from being easily noticed by the locals. (yes, machine guns and anti-tank rockets are giveaways) Wether it worked or not is debatable, but when in Rome...

Arctic trucks won a deal for the Scandinavian armies, for a 6wd light-duty truck. That is what it was made for.  Custom made from the cab and back.
Looks like on the pic that it has some 8 200liter barrels of fuel (JET-A) on the back, in addition to the 400liter it has in its tanks. Thats 2000 kg of fuel alone, plus lot of gear, spare parts and a loaded trailer.  Lot of weight for a 4cyl diesel running on JET-A fuel.

I don't think that the vehicle in this video is a Toyota, looks to be either a Nissan Patrol or a Mitsubishi of some sort, but I didn't think it was worth starting a new post, so I'll just post this video here. Flooding in Australia. Pretty impressive to see how fast the river swells. Apparently only one person was smart enough to move their vehicle, it even sounds like the people filming say "Should we move our cars?"

Also funny how they think he is airing down his tires.... just locking his hubs from the looks of it.

I believe they were leaf sprung until 98, at which point they switched to coilovers. Not sure what year this one is exactly, but I think it was pre-coil suspension. So yes, as far as I know this one was swapped.
