Good question, I wondered that myself.

Here is one for sale in the Sacramento area of California:

those cables are for deep backwoods bushwacking!  it allows branches and whatnot to slide up from the bumper onto the cables then over the roof instead of across the hood and windshield.

You should read a little closer =P that catch is for the little mini trucks not the toyotas and stuff

I believe IronClad is correct. Any dealer that sells the "real" mini-trucks only has the same or similar disclaimer for their imports.

Yeah, it threw me off at first but I've looked into those little mini trucks before and they are all governed to about 30-35 mph and not street legal anywhere in the USA as far as I know. Pretty lame considering golf carts can go on the road.

I would buy this off the show room floor today if Toyota would only man up to the plate in the US.

I'd spring for the Troopy myself, but I agree. Seeing how popular these are in Australia, the Middle East, etc, it is hard to imagine that even with a steep price tag these wouldn't fly off the shelves.

I am not a Jeep guy but every time I see a new Jeep on the road, like a 2-door JK, it looks really cool and I know a 2-door 70-series would look just as awesome if not better. There are countless Jeeps here in California. I don't understand why Toyota doesn't appreciate this market. As the largest manufacture in the World we have to believe they have a very good marketing team and it is a sound decision not to compete with Jeep. It seems like there has to be some other reason, like a political reason where the US is preventing Toyota from competing with the "staple American 4WD vehicle".

I keep thinking that Kia or Hyundai is going to release a live axle truck with dual cases, rear disconnect, selectable lockers ... all in stock form ... that would totally blow away everything else off road. Imagine how upset we'd be at Toyota if this happened. My point being that if there is a demand and its not being filled, someone is gonna fill it. But then again, maybe there really isn't a demand here in the US. Maybe most Jeep owners are doing what most FJ Cruiser owners are doing, and that is driving to Safeway at 3pm every afternoon to pick up more cat food.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll see a live axle Scion!

With Jeep bringing a diesel Jeep Wrangler to the States, I fear Toyota has totally missed the boat. :(

I think it is more like there are too many sissy boys out there that prefer the ride of an IFS over a real front live axle. Too bad they don't come out with a straight axle option.

The 70 Series Dual Cab is most recent introduction to the lineup, and sadly, the last addition we will see to the series.

Ok so here are some pics of foreign Toyotas, I think the black LC might be a US model. All of them are left hand drive (like the US). Yes, there is a Toyota van.

Pretty cool Cruiser.

I don't know if that is a Noah, but the overseas Toyota Vans are pretty cool!

If they released a diesel tacoma wouldnt that be near enough? Seeing as how they share a lot of parts with the new hiluxes.
I reckon they need to stick a big straight six diesel in the tundra, that would give the big three a good kickin!

I heard that Toyota is planning on offering a Cummins in like a 2016 or 2017 model Tundra...

As much as I respect Cummins diesels, why would Toyota do this when they already have plenty of big diesel engines themselves?

I saw their 8-liter 610 lb-ft torque Hino Diesel powered Tundra at the SEMA show...

Could it be an attempt to gain American consumers by using an American component at the heart of the truck? I guess they can start advertising, "American-powered Tundra!". Coming from someone with zero American diesel experience, this doesn't interest me. But it must go a long ways with everyone else :headscratch:

BigMike
