there we go

got an update. hopefully the last time i need to put these in  :crossed:

:D

the time has come

stuffed in their holes

and back together again. hopefully the last time for a while

here is what i did to get the tailgate working. the stock mounts in the bed were toast and all the bolts were broke off inside the rusty holes. so i hacked them out and made some little flanges

welded to the frame

painted the gate with some halfway matching color. works for me

thats it for now

longs are sweet!  Is it going to cause any problems with the tailgate mounts welded to the frame instead of the bed?  the bed and frame move seperate from each other.

i dont think there will be any issues. the hinges themselves have a lot of play in them so that should take up any movement between the two. ive takin it out once since the gate has been mounted and havent noticed anything yet??

i didnt "have to" but i did because i had them already and i figured it wouldnt hurt. the pinion angle is pretty bad without them in there with my flatbelly so that helped a little. i think i could run it without them and not have problems, but i stuck them in anyway

Thanks man.

went to  Browns on saturday and had a good time. the truck did good but it was a little wet and my tires are damn near bald, they werent hookin up very good. ran mini rubicon, crushers, firebreak, airplane hill, and tried getting into upper crushers but couldnt make it. only made it about a 1/4 the way up airplane hill also. rocks were really slick, but it was a blast. my buddy has pics on his camera ill try to get on here soon. o ya also a dirtbiker decided to ride on the left side of the road up by crusher and came around a blind corner and collided with my front bumper as we were going down the hill. that was crazy, he fucked up his leg pretty bad and hammered his bike, the bike was wedged under my front axle :shake:. so we had to load his bike and him up in the back of my truck and take him back to his rig at browns. i think he learned a pretty good lesson. other than that ordeal i had a great time

I like your truck, that's sweet. I have always liked the way the first gens looked. Someday I'll build me one.

not much new here... did put some lights on my front bumper and got a trailer box for for storage in my bed. finally got all my junk and spare parts out of my cab that were rolling around. its nice to have a little room inside the cab now !!

FatBarry

Good looking truck man, any updates?

TheCookieMonster

not really any updates, i did get a new windshield put in. other than that ive just been abusing it whenever i get a chance. last trip was over at the dunes a couple months ago ended up ripping one of the fittings out of my front brake line launching it  :beerchug: and breaking the bottom caps on both my front shocks... good times. i got a dirtbike now so most my attention has been on it lately

ryantowry_81
