Hi guy´s I am starting to plan the landcruiser buildup.   And one or to things are bothering me.
I will be installing a solid axle in the front with coilovers

1. The steering arms. I would like to use the marlin hi steer arms. But I would prefer to have the arms lover than the high steer kit. With coils I don´t need to go over the leaf springs and with lovering the arms I would have more space between the tie rod/drag link and engine.
when I dit this on the Hirunner I used the high steer arms from marlin. I had them re tappered so I could bolt the fj-80 steering ends under the arms. That gave me some extra clearance that I needed. will that ruin the alignment for the tie rod?

basicly I don´t want the tie rod/drag link to be higher than the housing and I don´t want to use any modified stock arms  couble pics of the modification on the hirunner arms

with mounting the steering arms like this am I destroing marlins design  (Arms are angle compensated for correct rod end seating.)
sorry guys I am running out of time here I will continue later.

Whats going on with that rainbow colored axle??

Oh and btw I don't know how this would work because the marlin arms are also tapered on the top to help the angle of the draglink coming down from the pitman arm (if that makes sense).  I don't know how you will get both the draglink and tierod to mount underneath the arms unless you custom bend your own dralink.  Maybe I'm not understanding how your wanting to do this. Do you have any more pictures of what your thinking of?

Bazzi

I sent them over at sky manufacturing an e-mail about this and they have some flat arms that they can tapper for me from underneath.

The truck has so litle lift in it that the draglink beeing bolted under the arm is no problem.

The raynbow collored housing is the red/orange paint is prymer, the blue is just paint. I later painted it all black, and the plan was that when I hit something I would see the blue paint when the black one brakes off..........

Doesn´t work that way the prymer is so soft that everything brakes off incluting the prymer....

haha I was wondering what was going on with that paint.  let us know how those steering arms work out.

This buildup (abouve) is finished... well almost.. the truck has been on the streets for over a year now and works just fine... The reason I am woundering about this is. I am starting a new buildup on a much more expencive truck a landcruiser 90 vx year 2000. On that truck I have to be really picky about parts, and souch

I removed the t-case to fix an oil leak and to change the shift springs. so the t-case would stop popping out of gear.

I wish i could get some fenders like that for my truck, that weren't so expensive.

Those Icelandic trucks are very cool looking.  Almost look like factory options.

good work.

I am a stress engineer for Boeing 737's...I do structural analysis ALL DAY LONG...

edit...when it is cracked like that your best bet is probably to make a new croosmember.  I think you made the right choice!

is a stress engineer, more or less the same thing as a structual?
Do statics & strengths problems all day?   Im a mech. E. student, trying to orient myself with more "focused" engineering fields.
