I'm new to this website but your double cab is so cool.  I with we had them over here.  I  have always wanted to make a four door cab out of a couple of Stout bodies I have.  Do you have Toyota Stout Pickups over there?  Toyota stopped importing them to the US in 1967 but continued in other countries untill the mid to late 80's.  They made them in a crew cab but it was never brought to the US.

I just ran into a problem.      :headscratch:

the tierod hits the draglink!!!!!!!           :hammer:                       :headscratch:

I cant bolt the draglink on top of the histeer arms like they are supposed to. I have to make a conversion to the arms, and bolt the draglink under the steering arms.

What is the easyest way to make this conversion.?         :flamer:

Well wtf?  I posted a reply to you and now its not here.  Hmm anyway, it sounds like you need to move your steering box forward.  Either that or you could get a pitman arm from a 2x truck and put that on beings its got about 3/4" less drop and 3/4" shorter.  It would allow mor more clearance.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Bazzi

hmm ok.        :sad2:
1. I cant move the box any more forwards. because I moved the front haising forwards a bit.
2. There has never been a hilux or 4runner in iceland that is 2wd. So I wount get the arm here.

:rivers:                                                           :rivers:                                                                       :rivers:

Is it possible to get this pitman arm from the u.s ???? and how much??

WHITE_TRASH

Sure youcan get a new arm from the us.  www.skymanufacturing.com makes custom ones.  Or youcan get someone to send one from a 2x to you from here.  They are VERY common over here.  Tak a picture of the mounting from the direct driverside so we can see just how far it needs to move.

as it looks from now the draglink will be directly under the tierod. There for I was thinking about bolting the draglink under the steering arms. and bolting the tierod to the pitman arm on the opposite site of the pitman arm (between the pitman arm and frame).

I have moved the steering box as much foward as possible (it will hit the boddy mount)

how much shorter is the 2wd pitman arms. And who wants to go and pic one  up and send it to me

I think I have solved the problem.  I got a steering box from a landcruiser 60.     :sly:
Those boxes have the pitman arm mounted on the front of the box not on the rear like the ifs box.   (the pitman arm points forwards instead of backwards like the ifs box)  That solves the clearing problem.
But I am still thinking of trying to mount the draglink under the histeer arms because I think  I will have clearence problem with the draglink and the engine. :headshake:

I took a bunch of pictures of the buildup today and I will try to get them online later today.  But I would love to see some pics of those  stouts???
