yea we keep a truck full of water the ones i worriy about are the firefighters. I know a fire jumper around here and thats gotta be rough.

BLACKDOG

Reno sent down a rig yesterday to help out with the fires, and another strike team (5 engines) rolled out today, headed the same direction.  Hope those winds calm down, I wouldn't want to be driving one of those rigs through that kind of wind.

Tallchevy and I  :driving: through these areas last night and it was windy like a mother  :lipsrsealed:...Holy  :pokinit: it was bad... :sheerterror:

We saw a couple of tractor trailers on their side.  We went right through your neck of the woods, Infernal, last night about 8:30 and stopped for some  :meal:  Good thing we left Glamis when we did...we kinda had to since the wind there was absolutely brutal and it was miserable just being there.  The wind gust there were easily up to 50-60 MPH!  :yikes:  Considering the wind and all I didn't get very many pics either...

Also just talked to my cousin on the phone and he said they left their trailers and motorhome in an RV park since highway 8 to San Diego was closed to high vehicles.

The wind was just unbelievable!  Broken trees along the 210 and debris flying every where.   :willynilly:  I hope every one here who lives in these areas will be ok  :beerchug:.  Be careful out there!  :usa:

Party, i live right off the 15 / 210 interchange so we get some good gusts around here. good thing you made it through when u did!

When I lived in Victorville I was driving home one night on the 15 in that area it was blowing so bad that all you could see was the tail lights of the vehicle in front of you. I was behind a big rig  and watched his tail lights go from horizontal to vertical. It was pretty interesting since all I could see were the lights, I knew instantly what had happened so I dived underneath and went around him. You don't ever want to stop behind that since who knows what's coming behind you. I stopped in front of the guy, he climbed out and was OK.

We made it down on Monday afternoon.  Many reports of structure fires in my neighborhood.  It doesn't sound too good right now.

I have a great picture at work of a contractors office trailer that blew over.  I'll post it tomorrow.

Man, that is so scary. I'm so glad we weren't coming through there with the LBC!
And you people worry about our hurricanes. At least we know they are coming and can avoid being on the road!

Damage at work.  Contractors construction trailer was removed from it's frame. :yikes:  At least the tie downs worked!  The frame is still securely anchored to the ground. :smack:

Winds gusting over 80mph caused the trailer damage I posted.  Santa Ana winds like this are an annual occurance in SoCal

Doof

my bad...i guess thats what i get for not reading

Rocksurfer

There is a stretch of I-15 just outside of Ontario, CA that parallels the San Bernadino Mountains. When the Santa Ana winds blow into town they can reach gusts of over 100 mph in that area. The truckers that know will pull off and actually line up side by side so the winds can't roll the trailers, basically the trailers will bounce off each other. Those that are unaware of the condition or are going to take the chance end up on their sides. Loaded most make it, an empty trailer doesn't stand a chance.
