Glen, I know there are instances where not wearing a belt has saved lives, and in fact, I had a friend that ran off a cliff road in CA many years ago, and if she had been wearing a seatbelt she would not have been thrown from the car and would have plummeted to her death for sure, but we all know that the facts are in the great majority of cases it does save lives and minimizes injuries.
And from what your brother said, when you drove a big rig you always did and you do on the trails.

Man, I just saw this. This is terrible! I know that you don't know me personally, but you have helped me so much with all of the advice that you have posted on the board. It sucks when a pet dies! And the truck, :yikes: I hope you are going to be ok! If there is proof that it was her fault, and you have a good lawyer, go get head x-rays. Then you can sue the lady for it. I know it doesn't sound like a nice thing to do, but my mom is a rehab nurse, and she sees head injuries all the time. If the docs don't see it soon, it can become much worse. Plus, if it was her fault, then you don't have to pay for it! I hope you get better! :therethere:

x2 on the head check up.  You don't want to be stuck with a messed up mellon.

But seriously! If the hospital released him without cleaning the glass out of his head or holding him for observation for a concussion that might be a lawsuit in itself.
I can't believe they didn't clean the glass out of his hair and head.

If you're that worried about it glen, buy a seatbelt cutter, and tape/velcro/ or otherwise secure it to something within easy reach (front of the seat, dash, shifter bar, etc)  They work really well, and very quickly too, if you have them in an accessible place. :twocents:  Also, if you have it visible, a bystander can use it if you're unconcious.

Nobody should try and profit from this :shake:  At best he should get all his bills taken care of and maybe a little extra for their neglegence, but only a shady person would try and get rich from this!

The amount should depend on how serious and long term Glens injuries are.

It was meant to lighten up the mood alittle. But, you are right, a person should not profit from something like this. I was talking with a guy at my job that used to live in CA, and he says people profit off of stuff like this all the time. For example, he told me of a robber that broke into a house and fell down some stairs, and broke his leg. The guy sued the home owner and won. I don't know if it was the truth or not, but it goes to show that some people out there try to profit off of accidents like this just to get money.
