I've seen em at junkyards and on ebay, best bet is to find a 4runner that is getting parted out and call and find out if it has one. You can also get a slightly different one from 4WD tercels. My favorite thing about them besides the "Old school cool" style is the altimeter, which is pretty damn accurate.

Its called an inclinometer clinometer or altimeter search those on eBay. that's where i got mine, came from Florida. Mine was about $150 by the time I got it and everything. holes are already in the metal reinforcement in your dash pad (visible from the bottom. so you just have to poke through with a drill bit hook up the lights and your done. its a factory part if you didn't know so its the exact color/ design as the dash. We didn't get them in Canada and they only came in 4runners I think. Good luck on your hunt lol.

Talon84x4

Also search other boards, I found mine on 4x4wire for $50 and have seen many go on there.  :twocents:

ahh sure why not lol. Its been sitting in storage since november. but i do have a couple fun things to tell you about.
Tomorrow I'm picking up some 33x10.5 bfg mud terrains km's (not km2 i'm poor lol) so i'll have tose for the spring. I'm getting some marlin shackles off of another board member so I hopefully don't rub lol. I'm thinking they may rub the leaf spring at full lock. in which case i will swap in an IFS rear axle (I got a couple) and get some wheel spacers for the front. if they rub the firewall I might swap the front main leafs with rear main leafes so everything moves forward without lifting it (so my stock steering dosen't getscrewed up.
I'm also on the hunt For a welder so I can start making my own crap. I'm thinking a small 220v unit. either hobart, miller or lincon. I'd like to do so variation of this...http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=758106 to my crossmember to gain a little clearance.
I got this badboy,

It only took 3 months to get it and they forgot to drill the other 2 speed holes  :rofl2: WTF. ahh well, I can't make a bumper this well haha. I made a cardboard braket to check my frame when i went to visit my truck and kick out all the mice (there were none) and it looks like i'm going to have to drill the holes in my frame because its been modified/ repaired. so maybe i'll have 6 holes instead of 4, and then weld the braket at the end of the frame :yesnod:
I also want to get some sliders on my truck. so atleast i can attemp an obstacles without worring about body damage. front bumpercoming too. that way i can wheel the piss out of it and not really damage anything.
I'm also going to do the late model intake swap, mainly to get rid of the troublesome air bypass valve that hangs down from the lower intake. on the latemodel it is part of the throttlebody and is less of a problem. I also read a slight increase in throttle response and power may be gained. i don't really care about that much it's still slow lol. maybe i'll whoop another 22re 4x4 lol.

(old bypass valve far left, new throttle body with valve on the bottom middle, newer intake right)
minor little dodads. I havn't really done anything yet so I will update when i put them on. here are some pics of it in hibernation lol.

It is in storage because I don't want to drive it in the winter. its in decent shape and i don't want it to rot. I'm hoping so, I'm glad they will be skinnier than my tires now. I'm drilling holes in my frame so i can bolt my bumper to it lol. the frame has been cut off behind the rear crossmember and had box tubing put in place. the holes they drilled in that are not the same as the holes on my marlin bumper so i will have to drill more holes. the marlin bumper has 2 different bolt patterns on it (eight holes) so I am going to use 6 of the 8 holes because i have to drill anyways. I'm not using the other 2 because they are too close to another hole. hope this makes sense.

wampum

Yeah it makes sense now, plus a bunch of your last post didn't show up for me for some reason. Are you gonna hit the snow at all in it?

nahh, I don't think so. my local 4x4 club does a run mid november and i missed it this year. i think i'm going to suck it up and have that run be my last one next year. if theres snow then then yes, lol. i wish i went to it this year.

SolidAxle

Got the pizza cutters today. the guy also randomly had a set of 1.5" wheel spacers that he didn't want so i grabbed those too lol. PICS

OHH and the picture of the tread depth i first took with a "Loonie" (candian 1$ coin) but realized that nobody would know how big that is so i found an american quarter.

nice build i cant believe ive never read it before, i just read the whole thing now. nice score on the free wheel spacers.

SolidAxle

Thanks for the compliments guys. I think its the generic title that makes people overlook it, i might have to change that. Make it Teal 1985 extra cab build lol. The wheel spacers i got for 60 bucks which is a pretty good deal because they are brand new.  lol I always looks at my altimeter when i'm turning because it looks like its getting mad body roll.  :driving:

SolidAxle

WOO WOO, I got my truck out of storage today. It started right up and is running like a champ (chirping into 2nd lol). I'm excited to have it back on the road. I've collected a few parts over the winter and I have the day off tomorrow. let the wrenches fly.  :hammerhead:

THK Matt

I have tomorrow off too!

I got an Amp/subs, Roll Bar and maybe a full tune up to do tomorrow.
we'll see what I can get accomplished haha.

Yes thanks. they are shorter then we thought but they will work. i havn't put them on yet though. I have a 86ish harness in my basment that came off an automatic. It too has had the knock sensor wire hacked off it. I think. if you want i can send you pics of the plugs that go to the trans to see if it will work for you. I'm pretty sure you can plug a 5 speed subharness into it (reverse lights + 4wd)

They are rear toyota/Bilstiens of an 05-09 4wd trd taco. THEY ARE TOOO LONG lol. i have about an inch and a half of uptravel and they bottom out . I got them for free from my work so i figured i would try them. they have 8.5 inches of travel and are 13.625" fully compressed  and 22" or so fully extended. would work well with a mild lift. I'm on the hunt for some 2wd taco shocks because they are an inch shorter. so far the cheapest place to get them is toyota. I don't want to buy brand new ones if they are going to bottom out too. so i want to find sombody thats put airbags on one or somthing and is selling their stock stuff. I spy'd that the x-runner has bilstiens as well lol. might get them. They are on the front of my truck BTW.

crawlerdan

any pics of that harness would be cool, doues ithave the engine, headlights, engine fuse block harnesses?
