cleaner is better... im guna get the new "classic" one and mount it "overhard"

The only thing i don't like about the classic ones, And most cb's is that there friggin shiney silver/chrome! my dash board is gray and black with a black deck that lights up green just like everything else. I don't want to have a giant grey box with 10 million knobs on it sitting in there. I've been looking for the cobra 18 wx st blah blah blah with the front "firing"speaker and its black. It has 10 weather channels  and a scan feature to find active channels (people talking on them), and walmert sells them so its pretty cheap. but me being soo cheap i want to find a used one because I don't want this CB buisness eating up my marlin bumper fund lol.

Okay, i ended up getting a cobra 18 wx st, mounted it in the double din slot below the radio. it just how i wanted it. I also got a 4' fiberglass antenna and threw it on a stud mount on the bed rail just like big mike. i didn't use a spring because i'm asking for the wilson superflex antenna for christmas and they don't need a spring. (see big mikes thread in the cb/ham radio section).

PICS.

THK Matt

does it mount to the stock metal radio brackets?

id like some specs on that
that looks hella good and like its meant to be there.

Thanks, it dosen't mount to the stock mount. it is possible to stick two scews into the radio through existing holes in the bracket. But i feard hitting the internals, so i have the ever so clever (my dad said some of the guys at the stero store he used to work at did this lol) duct tape mount. It is ductaped around the stereo. I would have liked to mount it on screws but i didn't want to waste too much time on it.

Its not a tuneable radio as far as mods are concerned. but it works well, i like that it has weather stations too, and you can scan the channels to find something going on if your board.

THK Matt

nice nice.

i want to mount mine over head.
ill make some mounts and JB weld them to the roof on the inside.. so i dont get leaks.

ok i have to ask....why does your spedometer go up to 180mph?  what is that cluster out of that goes that fast and only revs to 6000rpm??? is that kmph and not mph?????   :headscratch:  it looks like a regular toyota cluster.  180mph in a toyota pickup would be scarry. id have to wear 2 pairs of underware for sure!

lol i should have got some shots at 140kph before you noticed. you would all crap your pants ahaha

Thanks for the compliments guys, I think i am going to order a marlin bumper tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that if i get it shipped to the border (Your side lol USA) that i can drive down (only about an hour away) and pick it up, when i bring in back across i won't have to pay duty because of nafta (north american free trade agreemant)  meaning if it was made in the north america or there is no way to tell where its made theres no duty SWEET. i think i will request big stickers this time lol.

I recently noticed the my front suspension droop is limited by my shocks, they have aprox 5.5 - 6" travel. i little looking through some books at work and i found that 00- 06 or whatever tundra rear shocks have 8-9" travel with the same mounts. I am going to see if i can fit the longer ones, any body see this posing a problem with the factory j-arm droop wise.

                     Comp.        Ext.       Travel
85 pickup       10.500"     16.375"    5.875"
4wd Tundra    13.625"     22.500"    8.875"
2wd Tundra    13.125"     21.500"    8.375"

Going to measure Tomorrow.

Currently trying to find a mc dealer in canada to see if they can get my a bumper cheaper than buying it direct after its all said and done it will cost me about 477.99 to get it directly from marlin.

HO, your buddy runs 5" lift with stock steering and no j arm ball flip? i'm worries that my droop may cause it to snap. I think they will be too tall anyways (no uptravel)

THK Matt

he hasnt snapped any steering yet... he is hard on that thing.
I think you will be fine!

i say do it buddy.

I measured today and i've got a lenght of 14.75 at ride hight and the 2wd tundras are 13.125 at full compression ony leaving my an inch and a bit at full compression. I have no bumpstops but its about 5" between my spring and the bumpstop, anybody know how long the factory piramyd style bumpstops are? I think i'm going to need shock hoops if i want more droop. Shocks off of an 86 sentra have 7. somthing travel and are 13" fully compressed, probably a bit cheaper too lol. depends on how tall those bumpstops things are and if i get get ahold of some.

Ohh and I ordered the Marlincrawler bumper today, It will be here in aprox 6 months lol. I ordered it through EBI cruiser parts in vancouver canada, they said marlin didn't have any in stock so they'll have to wait for one, and then get it shipped to them, and then ship it to me. I really hope it gets to me in the next couple weeks. I can't wait to rock that bad boy lol. and hit it off stuff. :driving:

THK Matt

:woohoo:

and the shock deal is sweet... look at the ford shocks....
alot of people use those
