they have to crush them? what a shame, it makes sense that he wouldnt have armor then! Why have the added weight, and something else to hang up on, if you dont care to save the body? So Infernal when does your taco get crushed?  :dunno: lol

:talkingn:  :talkingn:  :joke: Hopefuly not in this lifetime...The magazine trucks I'm talking about that get crushed are the ones owned by the magazines.I had a friend who passed away last year who worked for Primedia (Off-Road Magazine) and he explained all this to me,the magazines buy the trucks for $1 and the registration is only good for a short time. The magazines build them but they have to be crushed after a while...Or something along those lines  :yesnod:

Wow that seems like such a waste. Do they at least save the good parts off the trucks or does everything get tossed?

They keep all the good stuff.Alot of the mag trucks have Dynatrac axles and good tires and stuff. All that gets saved and reused on other projects. Some of those trucks are prototypes so that's why they have to be crushed...This is all info my friend passed on to me,that's what I'm going off of.

Rocksurfer

I know the feeling, we had a 4Runner delivered to us from Toyota to make the mold for our body panels on a race truck. You'd think we'd get a stripped down model with 2wd, oh no we got a Limited with all the bells and whistles. It got some scratches and such from making the molds and I asked our rep if they just repaint it, nope they were sending it to be crushed. It seems that it is what they call a test vehicle and once they are done doing whatever they do with them they get crushed since as stated before they are test/protoypes and can never be legally registered.

My older brother worked for Chevy back in the late 80's early 90's driving a semi hauling show and concept vehicles.  All the vehicles would get crushed when they were done showing them.  I got to drive a dual turbo corvette painted pearl white.  The tires were rated at 205MPH so the computer would only allow the car to go 200MPH.  I got to drive it on the street about a month before they crushed it.  My brother says he would leave after dropping the cars off cause he did not want to see them get crushed.  They were not allowed to pull anything off of them (would like to think the guys at the scrap yard might get a few things).  To think off all the stuff that has been crushed due to big business being scared off lawsuits makes me want to  :rivers:

I know what you mean, when I used to work at The Home Depot I had to have perfectly good product crushed only because of that fear.
