truck noises

Hey,I am having a problem with my pickup its an 84 toy and I replaced the drive line,tranny and rearend and now when i am driving and when I let up off the gas and it makes a ugly grinding noise and Ive takin the rear end apart three times :sheerterror: and my dad has mest with the pinion and it still does this has anyone had this problem or might know what it could be thanks.

Sounds like you have a bearing going out in the tranny or t-case. Drain the tranny & t-case, check for metal. If your on the throttle & you hear the noise, thats a diff. When coasting, no throttle, that a tranny or t-case.

i would make sure that your pinion nut on your rear end is torqued down to 135 ft. lbs. i had a similar problem with my 83. turned out my pinion drive flange was loose

check the pinion and wheel bearings

make double sure the drive shaft is in phase
