Newbie posting Idea!! ATTN: BIGMIKE!!

Hey, I got a idea for the newbies.  When they first get an account, can you have it automatically go to a post screen in the newbie section, and the only and first post they can do will be, "Hi, I'm new!  And here I am!"  I think this will help with the who are you and you need to say Hi!  I'm new! 

This is just an idea.  Especially, when we got 100+ newbies in one month.  I see it in the shout box alot lately somebody posting that they need to introduce themselves!

Why should anyone be required to introduce themselves, some only come here for info on their build and then move on. It would be a great idea for a social bb but this is tech.

Yeah.. not everyone is a newb. Some lurk for a while but know a lot. They'll be limited in their ability to sell but there is no reason they shouldn't be able to just jump on a tech thread.

My theory is if they only come here to research, they should have no reason to post.  The answers are there, just behind the SEARCH button.

Newb doesn't necessarily mean uninformed, it means exactly that - new.  New to this site.  I'm not implying you don't know anything if you have less that X number of posts, but what I am reading is people would like to KNOW who they're talking to, which I thought was the whole purpose of the newb section   Most people don't just walk into the center of a big group of people and start laughing and joking along.  MOST would atleast introduce themselves to stem the sideways looks.

The SEARCH sucks on this board. Although I have found it has gotten better. I can actually find our Sightings of thread by searching for it.
Used to be I couldn't even find it with the exact words of the title.
