My friend grew up on a farm in the Midwest, and he says they had a Chevy farm truck that ran on both propane AND gasoline. When the propane tank got low they could flip a switch and pump the pedal a few times, and run on gasoline till they could refill the propane tank.

He also says they filled the truck tank from their residential propane tank. (No road taxes)  :eyebrow:

Since i try to build as much utility into my Toyota trucks as possible, i wish i could find a dual-fuel kit. Like a propane feed plate that bolts on between the carb and the intake manifold.

Select propane instead of gasoline, you still use the carb choke and throttle plates to meter the air, you just spray propane into the air stream beneath the throttle plates. The propane plate would have to have a proportional valve connected to the throttle linkage to get the proper fuel-air mix, but i don't see any major complications.

Anyone know of a source for a setup like this?

is there a power loss at all? and if so by tinkering around with air and timing, could that compensate for the lost power?

it depends alot on the kit being used and the way its tuned a well tuned quality kit should eather match or improve power but with an under sized kit such as the cheapos on e-bay you will most likely lose power

yeah the better the kit you get and the more time you spend tuning it properly the more power your going to make and on the undersized e-bay kits i ment to say you will lose power in the last post

i found out from my boss at work today that if you run propane to get your valves hardened, since the propane is dry you will run through a lot more then you would if you pay to get em hardened....just a quick tip

If anyone has any kind of questions about propane you should contact Cary at got propane, this guy knows the ins and outs of this stuff. I am running his setup and it's sweet.
