@Dreadnought

As for propane kits for diesel  they have them   saw it on trucks   or was it horse power TV... any hoot  they use  a cetane   not octane  ratings.

Hay  I  thot with the new  BBQ tanks   they suck from the middletop?  with that  whole saftey valve set up U can't over fill+ use them upside down.   i could be wrong.

Thats what i was told from our propane supplier    we got  2 racks of moter carriage cylinders   and i was  thinking of baroing one for MY BBQ  and they gave me the info and said that was a no no :dunno:

But we have plenty of duel fuel machines in the yard.   Most  are  ford IC  425  duel fuel.   Nice  4 Cly  special head   some with   carbs some with injection.  Not much difference   from that kit    other then  it keeps the gas   system intact.  ( if any ones  would like pics  for  just a refrence or what ever i can take them)

I'm still trying to decide what would work out better for me.  84 4Runner 22R that needs a rebuild (I think the kid hydro'ed the motor mudding  :crazy: ).  I can search around and try to find a 22RE with all the goodies to swap or rebuild the 22R and run propane.  I've got a friend that has a supercharger kit for the 22R.  I'm wondering if it could be reworked to run on propane rather than the carb??  I need to find out what kind of supercharger it is and some specs on it.  Anybody run a supercharger and propane?

copy and pasted from Got Propanes FAQ
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Will propane hurt my engine?

NO! In fact, propane is on the light end of the hydrocarbon scale, meaning there is almost no carbon in it. Carbon is what turns your motor oil black. As a result of using a propane system, your oil will stay clean in a new engine and will get cleaner each time on an existing engine. Because propane goes into the engine as a vapor, there is no "raw" fuel entering the cylinders, which washes past the piston rings and into the oil. This is a major reason propane engines last about three times as long as a gasoline engine.
Propane will not burn the valves. On older engines withour hardened valve seats,this used to be a problem.Even this wasn't a problem until tons of miles were accumulated.On engines designed to run unleaded-no worries."

If it isn't possible I was going to do a V-6 Chevy/Buick swap, so many choices, it's giving me a headache.

if ur considering doin an engine swap for cheaper fuel then listen to this. if u get a diesel of any size then u can run it on biodiesel. checked out a few web sites about it and some people around the country who make this stuff sell it as well, usually for .75-1.00 a gallon. only conversion u have to do is get a diesel tank, install the heater on it, and replace ur fuel lines with heated ones. there are many different style setups, some u have 2 tanks, bio in 1 and regular diesel in the other for startup/shutdown. others with 1 tank turn ur ignition on 5 min before u startup and thats it. get the same gas mileage and the same power, plus its dirt cheap, made from old cooking oil. and burns alot cleaner than regular diesel(even with propane additive to improve octane)

GO EFI, I just swapped a 22RE into my 82 and can't believe the power and driveability difference!  Since your runner was originally efi, it should be really easy and cheap!  Hopefully the previous owner didn't hack the hell out of your harness!

Please do a writeup on it, that would be great.  What kind of tanks are you planning on running?  I'm guessing they are going in the bed of your truck?

Does it look like he has two tanks under the bed of this truck?  That's how I want to do mine in my 4Runner

either a single 20-25 gal. tank  or two 10 gal. forklift tanks. the 10 gal. tanks are 33" long so two side by side long ways in the bed all the way forward, I could still load gear on top of them., plus the forklift tanks can be removed to take to get filled where the bigger hardmounted tank you gotta take the whole rig. leaning towards the 2- 10's
