been a while since Ive updated....

yup been wheeling it already. still dont have seats in it tho. borrowed one from a buddy to make an annual new years day run. stayed up to 2am welding to make that trip. not called a hangover run for nothing!! finally figured out what I wanted for seats and found a deal. got those this week but having to change my mounting around to make them fit so thats where Im at now. Ive got about a week to get them done to go wheeling again. still need to decide on a harness too as Im just running a 3" lapbelt. n top of that work has been nuts and been exhuasted after getting home so its hard to find energy to work on it after work.

anyway here are some pictures

cool night welding shot

roof

windshield frame tie in

side tube

stock seats for mock up

new paint, rattle can desert tan and repainted factory stripe

new years day

next is getting seats in it and some real belts.

then on to getting around to my 2RZ swap then four linking the rear. It never stops!! fun to read this thread from the beginning tho. never thought I would be cutting the cab off in only a year!

trying out the tube. drove on my side then back on my wheels. scratched my new paint tho! tube held up great however!

Jud

Its looks awsome.

Are you going to put plexi or aluminum sides on it or something like that?

Looks great, Dustin!

Do you have plans now to lower it a little? Looks like the lack of weight has crept it up a little. Could just be my eyes, though.

Keep up the good work!    :beerchug:

DieselD

I am undecided on what to do with the sides and roof. will probably run alum panels.

actually I felt it was lower. the springs are still getting lower as they settle. Its actually pretty stable and the break over angle is pretty good as well so it will probably stay where its at until it gets 4linked. For the weight I took off in cab Im sure I added almost that much in tube. I plan to weight it again once its done. before the hack job it was right at 3900lbs with me in it and loaded with gear

here is the high tech tool I used to draw the lines

Dustin, I used your trick when I cut my fenders the last time I was home. It worked beautifully! I had to go off the chrome fender edge, as my parts fenders were pretty rough (see pic). Cut it out with a jigaw, flap-wheeled the edges, then took fine sandpaper to finish 'em off. Worked great. I remembered you had did this and wanted to say thanks!

DieselD

yeah works awesome and keeps the factory shape for the most part. does not looked all hacked up. good work on saving those rusty fenders. I love AZ in not having to deal with that crap!

whats the low down on this pile

DieselD

2rz is in the works right now actually. going to pick up my pan and crap today. watch for updates soon as its going to be this summers project. Ive been putting it off since Ive been wheeling it alot. its into the 100* days here so our wheeling will slow down until the fall.

Im always down to wheel the good stuff, let me know when your rollin and we'll hit up the rocks. what part of town are you in?

LilChief87

and hell yeah what trails you usually run?? you go out to box canyon?

DieselD

I run pretty much everything in Florance and table mesa

DieselD

the bracket for the bell housing will not fit with the t100 pan??

THK Matt

Looking good. One mistake i made on my swap was lowering the engine hoping to get a lower center of gravity but now my driveline hits my exhaust where it crosses under the bellhousing. And my draglink come real close to hitting the oil pan. Didnt know if you plan on lowering yours but that was my mistake.

IIRC BigMike or someone was rounding them up for the FireGuysRacing teams.
it was like 20-50 bucks for the pair.

thanks for the info. I do not plan to lower it. I really dont want to have to rebuild my trans mounting and mess with driveshafts if I can avoid it. I would rather have stuff up higher to get a better belly height anyway. the way my floor is built for my seats its not going any higher than stock anyway so no worries on that

Im running a ford fuel tank aft axle so I have no issues with running the exhuast down the right side of the truck. no cross under the bell housing issues to contend with hopefully.
