Its going to be a while. Ive got a cage to build too. we are going into a 2-3month 100* plus weather here in az. the worst time possible to be outside.

the plan is to clean it up a bit and get it in the garage to start gutting and selling parts I dont need. get what I want and haul the rest to scrap to get it out of the way. right now its outside due to being a home for spiders. Good thing my neighbors like me. its times like this Im glad I go out of my way to help them fix their cars.

I got this for a song too so I should do good parting the few good parts left that I wont need. Looks trashed but a unmolested complete engine with wiring is gold. no worrys on missing parts and nickle and dime to buy what I wouldnt have. Another reason I decided to go 2rx instead of 3rz. a deal is a deal ya know?

THK Matt

difference is the 2rx 2.4 and and the 3rz 2.7?

the 2rz is a 2.4 vs the 3rz being a 2.7. the stock is a little less on the 2rz thus making a little less hp. its like 7hp and 17ftlbs of tq IIRC. not that huge really.

plus mines a 3rd gen with coilpacks which IMO are superior to dizzys

THK Matt

more expensive when they go out though.... but i do agree.

why would it "go out" its toyota quality and orginal so Im sure its got plenty of life in my dedicated rockcrawler. hell much better then all the rebuilt 22res on the road. be hardpressed to find one of those thats never been gone through let alone still has all orginal parts

yeah drivers door is not "too" bad. still opens and closes and has glass.

THK Matt

i was meaning the coil packs are expensive.

the coil packs on an iForce V8 IIRC are around $500 a piece from toyota.
my buddy had 5 go out on him last year.

there are alot of factors to that. but overall Im not worried.

IMO the benifets of not having a dizzy and wiring is work running cop that probably wont take a dump

THK Matt

there are many pros and cons to everything.... but i think id like the advantages as well.

I don't want to clutter up your awesome thread with senseless :blah: but what happened to that truck? Everytime I see the pics of it, I want to know what happened. Thanks.

DieselD

The story from the guy I got it from was his buddy fixed it up for his kids first vehicle. within about a month of driving it lost control in the rain and spun into a ditch. looks like he hit hard cause its wadded up on all corners.

I then proceeded to park my toyota on it to further the destruction.

THK Matt

nice RTI ramp  you got nice articulation.

How's the swap going?

I hate to bring up a dead horse, but would you mind telling me what wires go where on the Ford tank? I have the same tank, and I'm interested in exactly how you wired it all up. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!

DieselD

Jordan I can get you pictures of you need it to wire it. pretty simple install really. you can tell what wires do what by looking at the pump. you have a power and ground to the motor. alot of times the ground just grounds to the pump bracket, then a sender wire. I can get you colors once Im home and can reference mine. just wire the sender wire to the toy wiring then get behind your cluster and get the wire from there to your gauge. that is of course if you plan to run an autometer.

no problem with the old subject, I get asked alot on this mod. Ill shoot you my email/phone via pm to better explain if you need.

I have just now got the engine out of the taco, still need to gather the parts I need to swap it. get rid of the taco so I have room. then stop wheeling mine long enough to swap engines...haha might be a little while

Thanks, Dustin, for the help. I see what you mean about looking at what the wires do. That shouldn't be too tough. The hard part for me is going to be making it fit under the 'Runner without cutting up the floor. How did you tie into the factory fuel lines? EFI hose (higher pressure) and EFI clamps? I just don't wanna blow up!  Haha! I'll give you a call when I get in a bind. Thanks again!

I used fuel  hose for now. not the best bet but it does work. just slide it over the fittings and clamp it. i have parts of old lines that I will make sooner or later to clean it up for so far so good.

Thanks for the help the other day. I got it wired up right and fired it up. Only problem now is that it runs like poop. Took it to the shop, and they think it has two dead cylinders. I'm thinking the injector harnesses are a little tweaked. Regardless, I really like the fuel tank setup.

How's the project coming along?

DieselD

good to hear buddy. you got my number so feel free to call if you run into problems.

havent done much new on my rig lately except for flopping it on its side.
good times...

got it fixed concidering

Nice! Good work on pulling it back out. Doesn't look NEARLY as bad as it did. You flop on a tree?

DieselD

trees in Arizona?? haha no. more like a big ass rock.

I replaced the fender and beat the hood back into shape. the fender was beyond fixing

THK Matt

so you still have the donor taco in the garage or what.
