thanks for the info. I do not plan to lower it. I really dont want to have to rebuild my trans mounting and mess with driveshafts if I can avoid it. I would rather have stuff up higher to get a better belly height anyway. the way my floor is built for my seats its not going any higher than stock anyway so no worries on that

Im running a ford fuel tank aft axle so I have no issues with running the exhuast down the right side of the truck. no cross under the bell housing issues to contend with hopefully.

I might run mine down the drivers side as well since aftermarket obdII cats are alot smaller than the stock toyota cat i think it should fit.

you have to run the exhaust as it was on the donor vehicle if you want it CA SMOG legal... IIRC from Marlin.

maybe commieforna smog but I live in a real state called ARIZONA so as long as the exhaust pipe in on the truck and they can put a hose on it Im good.

I will register my truck.

we need to smog it its just not bs crap like CA. like having exhuast on the same side and 2wd and 4wd  engine rules. as long as its cleaner than a 86 22re its good

it's the same here in TX. WAAAAAAAAY to hot to wheel much in the summer. the most 4wd my truck really sees in the summer is at the beach.

Summers are miserable but i hate building in the heat just as much as wheeling in it.

DieselD

building in the heat kinda blows but I can always go inside and chill for a bit if so desired. Im sorta used to having to suck it up in the heat for work anyway so why would working on my rig be any different. Ive grown up here and well it sucks but what can you do?  I would rather build when no one is really wheeling instead of doing it in the winter and miss out wheeling with all my buddys

so I need a factory 2000 grey taco wiring book...where can I find one?  been checking ebay already, seen the online links just nothing for a 2000 out there.

DieselD

here is the idea for my motor mounts. the one time ballistic does not ship out the same day I ordered my bushings is when I need them so until they show up Im stuck waiting. I have 2" mounted up for mockup but I need 3" to be able to weld them in

DieselD

have to take some of my dash out for wiring of my taco motor so figured now is a good time to get a dash bar of some short. needed to tie the front tubes together somehow so this is what I came up with.

should have got more done on my rig this weekend but between fixing a water leak in my house. drinking beer, bbq, more beer drinking, shooting, phone calls, more drinkin etc. this is all that happened.

not for the faint of heart if your wanting a/c I will still have heat from the defrost and floor vents which is pretty much all I need as well most of you guys know there is very little cab left

since there is no factory "crashbar" in it I had to build some mounts

yeah the cluster has a small issue of fitting with the mech speedo head. however this will not work with my taco motor anyway so I need to build a hilux/taco hybrid cluster then it will have no issues fitting

Im going to build a grab bar  that punches through the dash as well. give people a better place to hang on.

Speak for yourself, I can wait till at least Nov.

DieselD

have fun with that. I will be wheeling every chance I get in Nov. dont want to put my rig down for over a month doing motor swaps just cause Im a wimp and cant work in the garage when its 115* out. I dont mind small projects in the winter, mainly fab work that requires welding but something like a major swap I like to do it in the off season

*ROKTOY*

Well if you weren't so slow it would only take a week.

DieselD

get over here and wire it up for me then!

Its hard wrenching on stuff all day at my day job and going home to wrench more so it takes a bit longer for me

*ROKTOY*

OK, I'll have pity on you cause your a working slob, lol, but you do need to get the wiring book for the Taco it's just a must.

DieselD

called toyota and was told I cant buy it from them

DieselD

It runs finally after 3 weeks of dicking with wiring. Training myself to read toyota wiring sucks since its way differnt from what Im used to working on day in day out as a ford diesel tech. Got a lot of small things to finish up before I can call it done but It finally drove around the block on its own. cant wait to get the tires back on it and go wheeling to see how it does. runs pretty damn good. Those solid motor mounts vibrate my fillings out but at least that thing is not going to fall out when on my lid

proof it runs

still a mess in here. wanted to test it first
