Hey guys, don't know if you've heard about this new safety system being developed, but it looks very promising

Feels good to be back on the bike ehhh?

Me too!  This ATK is street legal and I sure dig being more mobile.  I took it for a nice ride over the weekend and had a chance to start gettin' a feel for it.  Haven't had an ATK for a while and forgot how different they are from the Jap bikes.  Got her into a HUGE slide at one point and was starting to question wether or not I had made the right decision taking the turn so fast but it held steady and motored away in a real nice wheelie.  I think I'm gonna like this beast!

Next I need to see how well she likes air time...

What kind of fuel mileage are you guys pulling on your bikes with what kind of riding style?

I only get about 30 if im ALL freeway riding with an avg speed of 85-90

With mixed city and freeway its a bit better and usually ends up at 37-41 with 42 being the best iv ever pulled from it. And yes, I ride full or mostly full throttle everywhere I go. Sometimes for safety, and sometimes for fun

I haven't checked in quite a while, but I think I get 35-40 usually.

My old 07 gsxr 600 with a Leo Vince slip on and BMC airfilter would get 47 on the highway and about 38-42 on the streets..

On the highway I can get up to 40 if I stay out of it and don't do any hotdoggin' but out in the desert racing around with my buddies I get closer to 25...

3/4 tank in about 45 minutes on the track when I used to ride harder  :ack:  I kept pushing harder and harder each session and noticed I was burning more quickly through the gas I brought, which shoulda lasted me all day, but the last couple sessions I had to hit the track pumps.  Good times!

Blake, I haven't done it since I was younger than you, but I do remember it being painfully easy back then.  Just remember to scuff up the metal plates on concrete before putting it back together, and for sure get a manual.  I don't remember who makes them, but there's a manual for almost every bike for about $25 and they're very good for beginners.  Sure, an fsm is great to have, but unless you're going above the basic service work, an fsm isn't necessary.

HH, I think the yz80 went to inverted forks about 92 or 93, and they don't appear to have changed at any point, so I bet any inverted yz forks will work.  Do a check on the part # for early and late steering stem bearings on ronayers.com and see if they're the same.

I don't miss the dirt because I still do it a couple times a week.  :slap:

I tool my son out camping in Warner vally where they hold some awesome Desert races and gave him his first taste of real desert riding.  Now he wants more than just the 125.  When I spanked his butt with my ATK he couldn't believe how fast I went by him and left him in the dust.  He thought he knew how to ride so I was abliged to show him how it is done...  We had a great time and we have already picked up an old raggedy 250 Kawi for a project bike for him.  I figure if he builds it he will appreciate it more and understand it beter.

Good times!!!
