When you going to get cracking on the first gen? That would be a lot easier to work on and you know a lot of people that could help with parts and support.

The plan is to see what we can do to it with minimal $$ input.  At least till after the roundup

Looking good. I/m ready to see this on the rocks.

I only have one observation. There is still a lot of room getween the roof and the internal cage. plenty of room for fingers, hands... to get in between during a roll-over. Since we know that the sheetmetal will crush first, do you have plans to fill this space, just so nothing can get in between? stuffing the gap with a lot more of the padding would work. just don't want to hear of someone else losing fingers.

again guys, good research, good work, keep it up! be watchin' ya on the rocks!
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Short answer, yes. That coating can create brittle welds, and prevents good penetration.  However, it is easy to grind off, and underneath is good steel, like Matt already said.  It is weaker that say DOM, but it is still plenty strong for this application, although many would disagree.

I am going to finish the back half of the cage.  I hope I can work on it this weekend some.  Add some supports to the top of the cage and run some tube from the left to right side and i'll be done.  Then it will be time to fab some mounts and suspension and steering for the d44 and  9 1/4 :woohoo:
