Only problem I've been having is the "you have/may have already posted this, go back and check".  This isn't exact text, but you get the jist.  Otherwise smooth, didn't clear cache or cookies or anything.

88runner, thanks, I just updated it. Let me know if it's working.
yep, that was it!

Also, you were telling me about a Javascript-based Chatroom that would work with SMF (not IRC). I would like to do that before next month. I know I have missed the last two chatting sessions with Marlin, but at least I should redo the Chat room so that the next time everyone will be able to log in without needing new versions of Java or access to IRC servers..

No no, different problem.  It's saying that I already submitted a post, but I didn't.  Only way to get around it is go back, click prevue then click post again.  I already took care of the problem like glen was having.

I just noticed the counter for the pictures is not working properly. Some say 0 and others show a count of times viewed.

DUDE. YES. I CAN'T STAND THAT. And you know, a lot of people have talked about that over at SMF's Forum (the developers of this forum) and they think we are all crazy because none of their beta testers have "encountered" that problem.

In my opinion the problem is when you have multiple windows open, just like I do right now. I've got about 8 other threads open in Tabs right now in FireFox. That's how I work. I come to the Forum, hit the "View new posts" button at the top, and then I open up a bunch of threads that look interesting to me, and then slowly go through each one, one at a time, starting with the first one I click on (left-most Tab).

But, since, for instance, I am replying to this thread right now, well, if you were to look at the "Who's Online" right now before I click the Post button, you will find that I am "Currently Viewing the IE 7 Beta2 thread". Of course I am not there, and I have about 8 other threads to view before I even get to that one, but according to the Forum and the database, I am over there right now as it was the last link I clicked on.

So it is my belief that when I click to submit a post in this manner, the forum gets confused because the last record of me is from a different thread. So now I am replying to this thread, which is not what the Forum thinks I "can" be doing.

Do you see what I'm saying? I tried recreating that error by only going to one thread at a time and I couldn't. Also, I think most people here are not as aggressive like you and I are with the way we work the forum. Man that's why I really love Tab browsing so much. With MS IE I used to have 10, sometimes even 20 windows open at one time. And I would be posting in like the 3rd thread that I came across, and then BOOM! IE would crash. And I would be like :maddest: because not only did I not get to read those other threads, But now I would have to check the history to pull each thread back up because the Forum thought I had already viewed all 20 threads, so now they were no longer marked as "New"
Stupid MS IE. hahahaha :rofl:

But seriously, I don't know what to do about that one......

Mr. Willy, I fear that I might have deleted *some* attachments by mistake when I was playing with the new options of this forum. I talked about it in the other thread. There was some option in the File Attachment section that says "Maintain" and I clicked it, and some status bar started working. I think it was removing all attachments that were either over a certain size limit or a certain age limit. I quickly hit the back button and got outta there, but I think I might have messed up some attachments....

Can you give me the link of where it lists those pictures wrong please?

Thanks again guys for all the feedback
Mike

Dang, I should have knocked on wood

Here it is Nate:

"You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh."

It happened to the last Tab I had opened. I just had to reload the page, which lets the Forum know where I am, and then it posted just fine.

Last I checked it showes 1 on the counter and I know that ain't right.

Yeah, that is weird. In Reply #1324, the 1st pic has been viewed twice and then the 2nd pic has been viewed 32 times! hahaha impossible!

Well, other than the counter being wrong, did you loose any pictures? All of them loaded up ok for me.

I checked the first 6 pages of the build thread and I am too tired to go any further.

So far so good.

Just did it to me with only two tabs open!  I'll hafta try and remember to just try refreshing next time.

Hey BigMike,

I know you are busy, but have you had a chance to look into the search function issue yet.  It's not setting the search parameters correctly for some reason, and returning practically every thing.

e.g.   I just typed in "backspacing" (with parenthesis) and here are the results
http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?action=search2;params=YWR2YW5jZWR8J3wxfCJ8YnJkfCd8NiwxLDEzLDE0LDM3LDM4LDM5LDEyLDIzLDI0LDI1LDI2LDI3LDMzLDE2LDUwLDcsOSwzLDMwLDgsMzF8InxzaG93X2NvbXBsZXRlfCd8fCJ8c3ViamVjdF9vbmx5fCd8fCJ8c29ydF9kaXJ8J3xkZXNjfCJ8c29ydHwnfHJlbGV2YW5jZXwifHNlYXJjaHwnfFwiYmFja3NwYWNpbmdcIg==;start=0

You don't get your first hit untill the fourth page.

thanx  :thumbs:

Hey, what's with the e-mail notification thing?  I had set up that only PM notifications go to my e-mail.  Now I'm getting notifications that somebody has replied!  Well, I've gone a unchecked evertyhing and I'm still getting them.  I never got them before but in the last 2 days I'm getting them and I haven't changed anything under my profiles since I started on this site.  I just got a new comp and dsl installed on Tues.  But it was fine until friday!  What's up with that!

I didn't read all 5 pages of this thread, but the search doesn't seem to be working right.  I uncheck the boxes so I will search in only a couple forums but it will still search in all of them.

What's the status of the search feature?  I did a search and it came up with 71 pages for craigslist.  I know we are screaming at the newbie's to do a search before starting a new post, but if the feature isn't working, they are going to post a repeat topic anyway! :dunno:

I just tried it to see how messed up it is, searched for "front axle", and it told me my search wasn't specific enough and to use bigger words?!  My prognoses: search is officially jacked up.

Ok guys

As of about midnight last night, the ability to create a new topic had ceased.

Apparently, when you would try to post your new topic, you would get a page that said something like "Forbidden, you do not have permission to access /index.php on this server"

Everything else seemed to be functioning normally, but new topics could not be created.

So I did some research and found out that our host installed a new mod to the server known as mod_security.

mod_security is a script that filters all posts and URLs for certain key words, and if they are found, spits out an error. Apparently many people are experiencing problems because of this. According to the report, "Problems include weird '403' or access denied errors, login problems, and similar."

So the fix was to add a bit of code to the htaccess file, which handles all incoming requests to the server:

Code: [Select]
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>

Regards,
BigMike
